Shaboozey Enlists Leon Bridges for ‘Burn It Down’ Arriving This Friday

Shaboozey announced a new collaboration with Leon Bridges on Tuesday, confirming the track “Burn It Down” for a Friday, July 25 release.

The Instagram caption was minimal. Shaboozey posted “Burn It Down” feat. @leonbridges out Friday, paired with a fire emoji. No audio preview, no artwork, and no album context accompanied the announcement.

The post drew more than 23,000 likes. At that point, the song hadn’t been heard anywhere. That’s a meaningful early count for a release three days out with no preview material in circulation.

Shaboozey – born Collins Obinna Chibueze – has spent recent years becoming one of the more prominent crossover acts in American music. His approach blends hip-hop and country in a way that resists easy categorization, and that’s paid off commercially. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for an extended stretch in 2024, pushing his profile into mainstream territory well beyond either genre’s core audience. His debut album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going” expanded on that momentum, demonstrating real range across a full-length project. New releases from his camp now draw attention fast.

Leon Bridges brings different credentials. The Fort Worth, Texas native made an immediate mark with his 2015 debut “Coming Home,” a soul record with a deliberately vintage feel that earned him Grammy recognition early in his career. He hasn’t stayed still since. His 2021 album “Gold-Diggers Sound” pushed toward a funkier, more contemporary R&B palette and showed he wasn’t interested in repeating what broke him through. He also collaborated with Texas trio Khruangbin on two joint EPs – “Texas Sun” in 2020 and “Texas Moon” in 2022 – that ranged from soul into country and psychedelic territory. His voice is one of the more distinctive in American music, and he’s built a reputation as a selective, quality-focused collaborator.

The pairing is intriguing. Neither artist’s style boxes the other in. Shaboozey’s production tends toward warmth and country-influenced texture. Bridges brings vocal richness and a soul foundation. The combination is genuinely hard to predict from the outside. No preview material has surfaced to offer any clues.

No album has been confirmed around the single from either camp. It appears to be a standalone release, at least for now. Friday may come with more context.

“Burn It Down” drops July 25. Three days from announcement to release, with nothing in between. Over 23,000 likes on a single line of text shows the anticipation is already there. The song answers the rest.
