Tom Brady ‘Rises from the Dead’ to Partner with Fanatics Games

Tom Brady announced a new partnership with Fanatics Games on Saturday, and the retirement joke in his caption was too good to ignore.

Brady posted on Instagram: “Had to rise from the dead (retirement 😭) for @fanatics games.” Seven Super Bowl rings. The most decorated quarterback in NFL history. And the man is out here joking about his own retirement like a regular dude. That’s a cool look.

Brady’s retirement history is genuinely one of the great sports stories of recent years. He announced he was done with the NFL in February 2022. Then came back 40 days later. He played one more season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then stepped away for good in February 2023. The joke actually lands. His retirement timeline fully supports the bit.

The Instagram post hit nearly 188,000 likes. For someone not actively playing a sport right now, that’s a strong number. Brady’s reach didn’t go anywhere when he hung up his cleats.

Fanatics is not messing around here. The company already runs one of the biggest sports merchandise and collectibles businesses in the world. Now they’re pushing hard into gaming, and that matters more than it might seem at first. Sports betting and gaming regulation has become a real political conversation across the country. State legislatures are actively debating the rules around it. The U.S. sports gaming market has been growing fast, and companies know the window to lock up market share is right now. The industry is throwing serious money at lobbying and high-profile partnerships to get out front. Getting Brady on board in that environment is a serious credibility boost.

Brady’s post-retirement business portfolio has been stacking up. He holds a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. That was a significant move in the sports ownership world. He also runs a production company called 199 Productions. Brand deals have kept rolling in. The Fanatics Games deal fits right into a deliberate long-term business strategy he’s clearly been building.

The sports gaming market is crowded. DraftKings and FanDuel have had a grip on the space for a while. Fanatics entering that world with Brady attached means they’re not tiptoeing in. They’re swinging.

Brady’s overall vibe has loosened up since retiring. He’s been more willing to joke around online, leaning into the self-deprecating humor about his own comeback history. He spent more than two decades as the most locked-in competitor in professional football. The goofy retirement Instagram era is honestly a fun evolution.

Full details on what the Fanatics Games partnership actually covers haven’t dropped yet. Expect more announcements. The post alone already had close to 200,000 engagements. Brady still has the juice.

He retired from football. Making big moves, though? That schedule hasn’t changed.
