In a 2024 hearing, Republican Representative Tom Emmer gave Governor Walz a fiery two-minute put-down. This heated exchange shared by commentator Benny Johnson sees Emmer systematically tearing through Walz with surgical precision.

Emmer criticized Walz for not sending in the National Guard and allowing looting and arson to go unchecked during the Minneapolis riots of 2020; “Your agenda is clear: free health care, free college, and driver’s licenses for illegals while handcuffing law enforcement trying to protect our communities,” Emmer added, putting forth another attack, which was that under Walz’s watch, Minnesota had become a sanctuary for dangerous criminals, including terrorists, gangsters, and child molesters.
The clip went viral afterward. The vignette of the final argument reads: “You have failed to enforce the rule of law, failed to uphold national sovereignty, and most importantly, failed the people of Minnesota.” Emmer reminded Walz that the Minnesota people had rejected Walz-style policy with the election of President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance in 2024.
The clip elicited a reaction of every degree: one user declared the takedown as a “masterclass,” while another called the entire hearing a joke, stating, “So they get scolded for a couple of hours… then go back and do the same thing with zero consequences?” One sarcastic user added, “Call me what you want. Soros gave me a suitcase full of cash and I don’t give two shits what you say! Tampons for all men!”
The opposite view alleged Walz-sponsored policies that strengthened ICE raids, that implicated COVID fraud, and that put numerous childcare centers under investigation. The second line of reasoning blamed federal authorities for the failures in border security. “These illegals either flew in or crossed the border illegally, both federally controlled,” said a user.
The nature of these debates signifies that immigration and law enforcement remain capable of generating heated discussions at the national level, with Emmer placing Walz policies at the center of the controversy, whereas Walz defenders would most likely regard the attacks as purely political. In any case, the clip has reopened the discussion over sanctuary cities, Federal versus State rights, and what the voters actually desire from their leaders.
Simulator events of this nature will soon prove to be the ammunition for every elections. For now, Emmer’s impassioned speech is a grim reminder of the great division in American politics and how quickly a two-minute monologue can bury all other newsworthy events.

Whatever Walz does or whatever he chooses not to do, this will never be the last spat in the public view. And at this height of tension, the next one may just be louder.
