Apple TV+ Hit with 95% RT Score Cuts Path To Most Emmy Nominations

It’s the moment TV actors, producers, directors, writers, and other members of the cast and crew have been waiting for. While it’s a dream to work in television production for a living, many also dream of winning an Emmy. It’s one of the most prestigious awards. The 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced on July 15, 2025, and some fan-favorite shows snagged one or two, while Apple TV+’s popular series Severance received double-digit nominations.

According to Deadline, the hit thriller series created by Dan Erickson leads with a whopping 27 nominations. The categories include Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor (Adam Scott, who plays Mark S.), Outstanding Lead Actress (Britt Lower, who plays Helly R), Outstanding Directing for Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné, and Outstanding Writing for Dan Erickson. Severance follows employees at Lumon Industries, a biotechnology corporation. The workers have undergone a medical procedure called severance, which ensures they forget about the outside world while at work and, when they leave, they have no recollection of their job. This results in the employees having two personalities, described as innie (exists at work) and outie (personal lives outside of work).

We’re not saying ‘Severance’ and ‘LOST’ are connected, but we’re not NOT saying that…

Its premiere on February 18, 2022, marked the beginning of a critically-acclaimed journey for the series, which has only two seasons and was renewed for a third. This AppleTV+ Comedy Series Made Emmy Nomination History

Apple TV+

Streamer AppleTV+ and its team have a lot to celebrate. Not only did Severance take over Emmy nominations overall, but its 2025 comedy, The Studio, made history. According to an Apple Newsroom article, The Studio, created by and starring Seth Rogen, is the most-nominated freshman comedy series in history with 23 nominations. The Apple original stars Rogen as a Hollywood studio head struggling to balance corporate demands with his own passion for producing quality films. Catherine O’Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn also star in supporting roles. Apple’s head of Worldwide Video, Zack Van Amburg, said The Studio and Severance exceeded expectations.

Everyone at Apple is celebrating the talent, creativity, and hard work of all of our Emmy nominees this morning…Severance and The Studio have exceeded our wildest expectations in earning the most nominations for both drama and comedy series…These shows have connected deeply with audiences around the world, and we’re incredibly appreciative to the Television Academy for recognizing the breadth of storytelling that has been an honor for us to champion.
