Glen Powell Is Finally Returning to Television With ‘Chad Powers’ — Don’t Miss It

After dominating the big screen in blockbuster hits like Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone but You, and Twisters, Glen Powell is now setting his sights on conquering the world of TV with the sports comedy series Chad Powers. The six-episode Hulu original will follow Russ Holliday, a cocky former college football quarterback played by Powell, who blows up his blossoming career after making a critical mistake. However, the sly athlete devises a scheme to fulfill his dreams: disguising himself as the titular character in hopes of a second chance.

Based on two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning’s alter ego in ESPN’s Eli’s Places, the comedy will feature Powell donning a wig and prosthetics to transform into the genial Chad Powers, the complete opposite of his arrogant counterpart, Holliday. The series is scheduled to make its long-awaited premiere on September 30, 2025, after months of anticipation from curious fans. It will also feature additional appearances by familiar faces, including Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, and Clayne Crawford. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the first season of Chad Powers and its episode schedule.

What Is Glen Powell’s ‘Chad Powers’ About?

Hulu

Based on retired NFL quarterback Eli Manning’s character created for his ESPN project Eli’s Places, in which the two-time Super Bowl champ went undercover and participated in Penn State University tryouts as a walk-on, the sports comedy series Chad Powers features the always charming leading man Glen Powell as the Manning-inspired alter ego. The Hulu original centers on Russ Holliday, a former narcissistic college football quarterback whose personal and professional life unraveled following a major mistake that cost him his career.

Eight years after the devastating blunder, Russ devises a cunning scheme to pursue a second chance at football glory, involving him donning a disguise and going undercover as the gifted and affable Chad Powers. In the trailer for the comedy series, Russ describes his sneaky plan to resuscitate his career as follows: “I am gonna do a Mrs. Doubtfire, but with football.” He decides to use a wig and prosthetics to alter his appearance and try out for the struggling South Georgia Catfish, hoping to revive his big dreams. Powell told ABC News of the comedy:

“We took that concept and that inspiration and have doubled down on the prosthetics, updated it, improved it, new model, new Chad, and we’re making a hell of a show here… What makes this show different is we wanted this thing to be funny and heartfelt but to have the football be legit.”

Who Stars in ‘Chad Powers’?

A Great Cast Joins Glen Powell in the Hulu Show

Glen Powell headlines the sports comedy, which he both co-created and executive-produced alongside Michael Waldron. Waldron is known for his work on the TV shows Rick and Morty and Heels, and he created the MCU’s fan-favorite hit Loki, while also penning the screenplay for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Powell has skyrocketed to superstardom in recent years, with the actor having memorably appeared in films like Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone but You, Twisters, and Hit Man, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Joining Powell in the Hulu original is acting veteran Steve Zahn, who appears as the laid-back, football-loving teacher Jake Hudson, with the character also serving as an important mentor to the South Georgia Catfish. Zahn has appeared in numerous films, including Reality Bites, Riding in Cars with Boys, A Perfect Getaway, and Captain Fantastic, as well as in popular TV shows such as Treme, Modern Family, and The White Lotus. Toby Huss (Halt and Catch Fire) plays Russ’s father, Mike Holliday, while other cast members include Perry Mattfield, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Clayne Crawford. Chad Powers is streaming on Hulu on September 30.
