Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Will Reportedly Feature Kevin Bacon

Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies will remember that at one point Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord declared Kevin Bacon as one of the Earth’s greatest heroes, and it seems that could be about to lead to Bacon joining the Guardians in their upcoming Holiday Special later this year. New reports have suggested that Bacon has been seen on the set, and while there is no exact indication of which Guardians of the Galaxy project Bacon could be appearing in, a reference to Christmas decorations makes it a good shout for this year’s Disney+ special.

The details of Bacon’s appearance on the set where Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special reshoots are apparently taking place around the ongoing filming of the third Guardians movie were shared among a host of details by Reddit user CassandraOracle, who observed filming in Atlanta, Georgia last week. They made several references to seeing Drax’s (Dave Bautista) stunt double on set, an action sequence involving Beverley Hills police cars and a crew badge reading “Hot Christmas,” the believed working title for the Holiday Special. While they do not claim to have seen Bacon personally, the note that “Word on the set was Kevin Bacon is in the scene.”

While there will probably not be any confirmation of this made official until the Holiday Special premieres in December, with the show seeming to be the first Guardians solo adventure to be set on Earth, then an appearance by Kevin Bacon seems like something that would certainly fit with the continuity of the series and could provide a fun little meeting between the Guardians and the “hero” of Earth.

Kevin Bacon Previously Hinted That He Would Love to Be Part of a Guardians Project

Like many Hollywood stars, Kevin Bacon has expressed an interest in being part of the MCU, especially when he discovered that he had already been featured thanks to the original movie namedrop. Last year Bacon revealed, “When I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I went to see it having no idea that I was discussed. It was an afternoon in New York, I was on 67th Street and went by myself, as I often do… I was like, ‘Holy shit. They’re talking about me. Are you guys getting this? Listen, I love the idea. I would love to be part of that.”

James Gunn has promised that fans are in for a treat when the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special comes to Disney+, and with a promise of some “great new MCU characters” to boot, the writer/director is already starting to build the hype for what he calls “the greatest thing” he’s ever done. He previously said, “The holiday special is the greatest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s totally ridiculous, and every day we can’t believe that we’re making it. We all completely love it. It is unlike anything that anyone’s ever seen before. I can’t wait for people to see it.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will premiere on Disney+ in December, ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 in May 2023.
