As we inch closer to the Halloween season, Universal Pictures has been amping up the promotion for Halloween Ends. Serving as the third installment of Blumhouse’s Halloween trilogy that began with the 2018 reboot/sequel (requel?), Halloween Ends was written to serve as the conclusion of a story. That may or may not mean that Laurie Strode will meet her end, but in any case, chances are this will be the final Halloween film to feature Jamie Lee Curtis.
“I just three weeks ago finished shooting the last shot of Laurie Strode,” Curtis said in July shortly after production. “It was deeply emotional and cathartic.”
It’s true that Curtis has seen her Laurie Strode character killed off previously in the franchise, but with no immediate plans for any more Halloween films, it doesn’t seem likely that the franchise will bring back the 63-year-old for another battle with Michael Myers. With that said, there’s a lot of anticipation heading into Halloween Ends, even with the lukewarm response fans had with Halloween Kills last year. To help promote the big battle that will put an end to the Laurie vs. Michael saga, Universal has released a new poster for Halloween Ends, and you can take a peek at it below.

Halloween Ends Marks the End of an Era
Universal Pictures
This will mark the end of an era for horror fans. Jamie Lee Curtis first began appearing in Halloween movies more than four decades ago as the star of 1978’s Halloween. She would reprise the role for the 1981 sequel Halloween II, and had a voiceover cameo as a different character in 1982’s Halloween III: Season of the Witch. It was explained in 1988’s Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers that Laurie had been killed off-screen in a car wreck, the first of her franchise deaths.
In 1998, the franchise was given a soft reboot that only acknowledged the first two movies. This allowed for Curtis to return as Laurie Strode with Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. Controversially, Laurie was killed off again, this time on screen, in the 2002 sequel Halloween: Resurrection. The Blumhouse trilogy only counts the very first Halloween film, allowing for Curtis to come back once again.
David Gordon Green returns to direct Halloween Ends after helming the prior two movies. The script is written by Green, Paul Brad Logan, Chris Bernier, and Danny McBride. Along with Jamie Lee Curtis, it features other returning stars James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers, Andi Matichak as Allyson, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and Will Patton as Frank Hawkins. Michael O’Leary also appears alongside Rohan Campbell. Nick Castle is expected to have a cameo under the mask as Michael and has also provided the character’s breathing sounds.
Halloween Ends will be premiering in theaters on Oct. 14, 2022. That same day, the film will also be made available for streaming on Peacock as part of its day-and-date release. No matter whether you watch the film on the big or small screen, prepare to say farewell to Laurie Strode… but probably not Michael Myers.
