James Gunn Breaks Silence On the Possibility of Doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4

James Gunn Breaks Silence On the Possibility of Doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is finally in theaters, wrapping up the journey of the popular team of misfits that began their adventures with James Gunn and the MCU in 2014. Now that the director will be working for the competition as co-CEO of DC Studios, the future of the group seems uncertain, but knowing the ability of Marvel Studios to include cameos and references in their films, the possibilities of seeing some of the characters again seem very likely.

However, the continuation of the franchise on its own it’s a different story. In fact, Vol. 3 was announced from the beginning as the closure for the team’s story. And Gunn confirms it once again. Answering questions through his social media, the director confirmed what many fans feared, that there will not be a fourth installment of the saga.

And while for many fans it may be disheartening to know that they won’t see the group reunited again, for many others it’s a relief, as with Gunn away from Marvel Studios it would be strange to see a Guardians of the Galaxy project without him behind it.

Fortunately, the future of the MCU will have plenty of room for one of the characters present in Vol. 4, Adam Warlock. Will Poulter made his debut in the film, which worked as a mere introduction for the hero who will later take a central role in the story that is unfolding in the franchise, and we will surely see him along with other teams like the Avengers.

James Gunn Teases the Guardians of the Galaxy Cast Future in DC

While Marvel may not reunite Gunn with his superhero team, we may see the director working with the leads again in the new DCU. He had already stated several times that he would like to add some of the actors he worked with at Marvel in this new chapter of his life. In fact, some have already been part of The Suicide Squad.

But now, Gunn not only confirms the participation of members of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy in DC, he also reveals that one or some of them will be part of one of the most important projects in the franchise, Superman: Legacy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also includes actors who were part of the director’s first work with DC, such as Daniela Melchior and his wife Jennifer Holland. Gunn is known to work multiple times with the same stars, so it won’t come as a surprise to fans.

Of course Gunn’s followers have already fancast some of the Guardians in DC roles, such as Chris Pratt to play Booster Gold, a character that will have his own TV series in the near future. Others would like to see Bradley Cooper playing Hal Jordan, since Green Lantern is another character that will be part of the first phase of the new DCU.
