Vin Diesel stirred up a lot of emotion among Fast & Furious fans, as he shared a heartfelt tribute to Paul Walker on the 10th anniversary of his untimely death. Both as costars in the high-octane franchise, and friends off-screen, Diesel and Walker shared a bond that has survived death, and clearly will continue to do so. Diesel shared a photo on his Instagram account, which he described as “one of my favorite images ever,” and in doing so touched the hearts of many fans worldwide, reminding them of the tragic loss felt after Walker’s passing.

As part of a long post, Diesel closed out his reminiscing by saying:

“After ten years… I know these days of beautiful remembrance will be filled with tears. But as time rolls on, with each year that passes… more smiles manage to break through the tears. Cause I know, when I see you again… our brotherhood will be stronger than we left it. Miss you.”

Paul Walker rose to fame starring as Brian O’Conner in the Fast & Furious franchise and his sudden death in a tragic car accident in 2013 shocked the world. Walker was recognized not only as an actor, but for his philanthropic work, particularly through his organization, Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW), which provides relief efforts for areas affected by natural disasters.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker’s friendship was a cornerstone of the Fast & Furious movies from the start of the franchise, translating into an on-screen chemistry that contributed significantly to the franchise’s success. Diesel often referred to Walker as his brother, and Walker’s presence has continued to be incorporated into the later entries in the saga.

The 10th anniversary tribute by Diesel is a personal reflection and a reminder of Walker’s legacy in the industry. Walker’s death occurred during the filming of Fast 7, leading to a significant emotional and production challenge for the cast and crew. The film was eventually completed with the help of Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, who stood in for him to finish his remaining scenes. The movie’s ending, a tribute to Walker, is remembered as one of the most touching moments of a franchise that is all about “family.”

The Fast Saga is Expected to Come to an End with Fast 11

Universal Pictures

Although it seems like the Fast & Furious franchise is never going to end, the 11th main movie is expected to finally see Vin Diesel parking up his ride for the last time.

This past May, Fast X arrived in cinemas to a slightly underwhelming box office that just could not compete with some of the previous entries in the franchise. However, the film gained a lot of praise for the inclusion of Jason Momoa’s villain, Dante Reyes, and also delivered a surprise appearance by Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs.

Now the saga is preparing fans for another appearance by Johnson in a sort-of sequel to his Hobbs and Shaw spin-off, in which he starred with Jason Statham as the other half of the titular duo. While there have been very few details about what that movie will entail, we do know that Fast 11 is expected to hit cinemas in April 2025, and is currently undergoing a re-write following the end of the WGA strike earlier this year.
