Official Godzilla Twitter Account Posts Mysterious Countdown

The official Godzilla Twitter account has just posted a countdown photo, possibly teasing at an upcoming announcement.

It’s been nearly a year since we last saw the King of Monsters battle it out against the former ruler of Skull Island in the highly-anticipated film Godzilla vs. Kong. Fortunately, just moments ago, the official Godzilla Twitter account is now teasing at something that might be getting announced very soon. Earlier today, the official Twitter account for the popular kaiju has posted a photo of a countdown clock. You can take a look at the image from Godzilla’s official Twitter account below.

Besides the recently posted photo above, there are currently no other details at this time. However, you can see that the clock itself is actually set at 9 o’clock or even 0900 in military time and that the numbers shown go from 1 to 24. Others fans are even speculating that the time of 9:24 is actually a date, possibly hinting at 9/24/2024. While nothing else has been confirmed just yet, kaiju fans are keeping a close eye on what’s to come for the lizard king’s future.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Since the release of Godzilla vs. Kong last year, there has been no confirmation of any future films with both Legendary Pictures and Toho Studios. Following the success of the epic crossover between Godzilla and King Kong, rumors immediately began going around that a new film for Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse was already in development. One of these rumors even claimed that the Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard was returning to helm a new project with a rumored title of “Son of Kong.” Another rumor also speculated that the next film for the MonsterVerse will be introducing a whole new generation of giant monsters.

Many fans are also wondering if this recent Twitter post from the official Godzilla account refers to a new project for the Eastern or Western version of Godzilla. Over the past few decades, Godzilla has appeared in many different mediums such as video games, books, merchandise, and comics. It could be possible that a recent photo of the countdown clock can be hinting at something unrelated to a future Godzilla film. The only recent news involving the king of monsters was the announcement for an official comic book crossover between Godzilla himself and The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse first began back in 2014 with the release of Godzilla, which then established the idea of Titans being so massive that they’re effectively walking natural disasters. Godzilla was shown to be protecting humanity for the first time in the film by battling the more malevolent massive unidentified terrestrial organisms (MUTO) before retreating into the ocean for the next five years. In 2017, Warner Bros. released Kong: Skull Island, a movie which is set in 1973 that first introduced King Kong to the MonsterVerse, leading up to the battle with Godzilla in last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong. In 2019, Godzilla returned for a sequel to battle the deadly Ghidorah and Rodan in Godzilla: King of Monsters. What are your thoughts about this mysterious photo, and what do you think it could be teasing for the future of Godzilla?
