Almost a year ago, Prime Video gave subscribers a new obsession. In May 2024, the streaming platform released a captivating and enticing drama series, Maxton Hall. Even though it’s a German-language series which was adapted from the Save Me trilogy by Mona Kasten, Maxton Hall was received incredibly well all around the world and rose to the top of the charts as the most-watched non-English series.

The series centers on Ruby Bell, a young, highly dedicated student at an esteemed boarding school, Maxton Hall. With her goal of attending Oxford in mind, working-class Ruby is determined to find her place among the wealthy scholars, but a twisted incident connects her with James Beaufort. Despite their immense differences, Ruby and James develop feelings for each other, but the web of secrets around them is turning their romance toxic at times. It didn’t take long until fans were blessed with an update on the continuation of Ruby and James’ story, as Maxton Hall was renewed for a second season only a month after the show’s release. What Is ‘Maxton Hall’ Season 2 About?

Just like Season 1 of the teen drama series, Maxton Hall Season 2 will focus on the tumultuous romance between Ruby and James, highlighting all the ups and downs the two face. With the Season 1 finale ending on a rather tragic note, since James’ mom suddenly passed away and he picked a fight with his Dad, only to bolt from the scene and end up outside Ruby’s door and watch her as she continued living her life happily without him, the new episodes will certainly provide even more drama. In a little over 30 seconds, the teaser reveals a lot of tension between Ruby and James. One moment, Ruby watches James under flashing strobe lights, surrounded by other girls, and the next, he is being led away at school by the authorities, with his gaze lingering painfully at Ruby, who stands frozen. As one would expect, the upcoming installment will bank on the push-and-pull dynamic that has defined the story so far.

If Season 1 was about the spark that started between Ruby and James, Season 2 would probably be about the fire that threatens to consume them. The teaser suggests that their relationship will be tested in ways fans might not have thought of. Who Is a Part of the ‘Maxton Hall’ Season 2 Cast?

Maxton Hall certainly gained a respectable fanbase due to its intriguing, even spicy storyline and the impressive school building (which is the stunning filming location of Marienburg Castle near Hanover in Germany), but the cast also played a significant role in the German series’ success. The desire to see each and every character come back to the screen is ever-present, but the return of only a handful of actors has been confirmed so far. Considering that Season 2 continues the turbulent romance between Ruby and James, the upcoming season will definitely bring back Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung to reprise their beloved roles.

It is safe to say that the cast are over the moon about the increased focus on female friendships in the series, since Herbig-Matten even stated in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment that there will be a lot to see, and she is excited about the portrayal of their friend group. In addition to the female group, James will also be joined again by his friends, as Ben Felipe will reprise his role as Cyril, and Justus Riesner will return as Alistair. Even James’ father, Mortimer Beaufort, will be played again by Fedja van Huêt.

When Will ‘Maxton Hall’ Season 2 Be Released?

The question of all questions, of course, is whether a release date for the second season of Maxton Hall has been announced. Fortunately, the answer is yes. The update is rather exciting, and it will surely lift everyone’s spirits quite a bit.

To the delight of, well, probably all the Maxton Hall fans around the world, in a press release, Amazon announced that Maxton Hall Season 2 will make its debut on Prime Video on November 7, 2025. Keeping in mind that many shows have long breaks between seasons (looking at you, Euphoria and Stranger Things), a gap of roughly a year and a half really doesn’t sound too bad.
