Following a mid-season hiatus in October 2024, Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black concluded on Netflix on March 6, 2025. The juicy melodrama concerns enterprising dancer Kimmie (Taylor Palidore Williams) and the whirlwind of change she experiences after being accepted into a fancy haircare school owned by a reputable family and run by Mallory Bellaire (Crystle Stewart).
What begins as a hopeful fresh start for Kimmie turns dark and devious with kidnap, blackmail, and ultimately murder within her new community, which turns out to be just as criminal as her old one. Although the show has been ripped apart for its unsubtle stereotypes and crass misogyny, the final six episodes have enough twists and turns to sort out the confusion and give audiences clear-cut answers about the conclusion.

Where the Mid-Season Finale Left Us
The story follows Kimmie (Taylor), an exotic dancer with a new lease on life, after being accepted into an exclusive hair-care school run by the Bellaire family, operated by Mallory Bellaire. Along with her best friend and fellow stripper Rain (Amber Reign Smith), Kimmie’s fresh start sours when she discovers illicit activity occurring at the hair-care school. As Kimmie and Rain discover and expose the crimes that Mallory and her co-workers committed, a target is put on their backs.
Other characters in orbit include Mallory’s drug-addled husband Roy (Julian Horton), her mother and family matriarch Olivia (Debbi Morgan), father and patriarch Horace (Ricco Ross), Horace’s brother Norman (Richard Lawson), and youngest family member Charles (Steven G. Norfleet).
The mid-season finale ended with Kimmie’s sister Sylvie (Bailey Tippen) being abducted by strip club manager Body (Tamera Kissen). As Kimmie and Rain connect the crimes committed at the hair school and their strip club, the drama escalates and their loved ones become endangered. After attempting to locate Body in the Part 2 premiere and all but killing him in a parking lot, Kimmie went ballistic on Delinda (Ursula O. Robinson), owner of Delinda’s Dolls and Dudes strip club, by shooting her in the head with a shotgun.
‘Beauty in Black’ Ending, Explained
With blood on her hands, there’s no turning back for Kimmie as Beauty and Black concludes Season 1 Part 2. However, Kimmie sees a potential out when Horace suddenly asks her to be his wife to avoid his children inheriting his fortune. Horace proposes while dying on a hospital bed, determined to gain one last victory against his greedy and vindictive family.
Kimmie won’t agree to marry Horace unless he explains why he hates his children to the point of leaving them nothing, and he declares it’s due to their laziness and poor work ethic that he feels do not deserve to be rewarded with the family inheritance. Kimmie must decide if marrying Horace to eliminate her outstanding financial debts is worth eliciting the vengeful ire of his family, who predictably set out to break up their potential marriage once they learn that Kimmie may be their new mother and boss.

Upon deliberating for a while, Kimmie accepts Horace’s marriage proposal despite the dangerous domino effect it will cause. Kimmie tells her friend Rain about the impending nuptials, and Rain quickly searches Horace’s net worth online and tells Kimmie she stands to inherit up to $376 million, a staggering figure that she cannot refuse. For Kimmie, clearing her debts with such a fortune will give her peace of mind, but there’s more to her agreeing to marry Horace.
More than the money, Kimmie is enamored with becoming an official Bellaire and all the glamour, prestige, and power that comes with it. She agrees to marry Horace for this, allowing her to expand her influence within the Chicago community, empowering others like Rain, and attaining the perks of celebrity status. For instance, when Kimmie drops her Bellaire namesake in the hospital, the hospital allows Sylvie to remain in its care rather than transfer her to a lesser facility. For Kimmie, nothing is more important than becoming a Bellaire, even if it means selling her soul.
Will There Be a ‘Beauty in Black’ Season 2?
Netflix has yet to announce a Season 2 renewal for Beauty in Black. However, Tyler Perry enthusiastically teased fans on Instagram with the following:
While Season 2 storylines and new cast members have yet to be announced, Williams is poised to return as Kimmie, telling TV Line:
“I know what’s going to happen, so I’m trying hard not to say anything. But yes, it’s definitely just the beginning of what she’s about to get into.”

Another unresolved plot point concerns Olivia Bellaire being served a subpoena by attorney Lena (Ashley Versher) in the Season 1 finale. Olivia argues back and deliberately prompts Lena to slap her in the face. Olivia records the assault on her phone and blackmails Lena to drop the case or else she will release the assault video. Quieted for now, Lena is likely to pursue Olivia’s criminal hair-care empire in Beauty in Black Season 2.
