Watch Noel Gallagher talk Oasis reunion and working with a sibling on ‘Chicken Shop Date’

Noel Gallagher has appeared as a guest on the final series of Chicken Shop Date, where he discussed the Oasis reunion, advice on working with a sibling, and more. Watch below.

The guitarist, singer and songwriter joined Amelia Dimoldenberg at Sam’s Chicken in Harlesden, London, where he was quizzed on various subjects.

“How long do you think you should wait before reviving something once it’s ended?” the host asked. In response, Noel said, “16 years”, referring to the gap between Oasis’ split and their 2025 reunion tour. “When you revive [Chicken Shop Date] this, get me back on.”

Dimoldenberg fired back: “Well, you might not be around.” Noel replied: “In 16 years? What are you trying to say? That’s not very nice.”

Later, Gallagher was pressed on what makes a comeback feel “natural and not desperate”. He responded: “You’ve just got to hope that you can do whatever it is you’re trying to do as well as you once did it. And in the case of Oasis, it became apparent after maybe a week in rehearsals that it was gonna be as good, if not better, than it ever was.”

As for his advice for working alongside a brother or sister, he said: “I think you’ve got to be prepared just to compromise, which is something I’m not ordinarily very good at. But I think it gets better as you get older.”

Gallagher teased that he has “tonnes of unreleased material”, but did not say whether this could be for Oasis.

The musician revealed how his perception of Oasis’ Live ’25 closer ‘Champagne Supernova’ had changed over the years: “It was nonsensical in the ’90s, and then it’s taken on more meaning for a new generation. I mean, I’ve still no idea what ‘Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball‘ means. I think it’s a drug reference.”

Earlier, Gallagher hit out at vegetarians and vegans (“Fuck those guys”), responded to rumours that he doesn’t wear underwear on stage, described himself as a “low-key” rock star, and discussed what keeps him humble.

“We played a gig in São Paulo to 90,000 people on a Sunday night,” he said. “We arrived home on a Tuesday morning, and I came down to find my two lads both arguing over what was left in a box of Coco Pops. And I thought to myself, ’48 hours ago I was on stage in São Paulo – the world was in my hands, and now I’m arguing with two bellends about Coco Pops’.”

Gallagher told Dimoldenberg about his relationship with previous Chicken Shop Date guest Paul McCartney (“He calls me Nolo”), talked about his beloved Manchester City’s controversial victory over Manchester United last month, and revealed he once “bought a life-size cardboard cutout” of Matthew McConaughey.

Later in the lunch date, the musician discussed being a Gemini and “a superior being” and spoke about where the name High Flying Birds came from.

Gallagher’s appearance on Chicken Shop Date follows recent interviews with Jorja Smith and Role Model on the series. Other previous big-name guests include Dave, Billie Eilish, Central Cee, Andrew Garfield, Cher, Little Simz, Louis Theroux and Jack Harlow.

Oasis will embark on their huge Live ’27 tour next year. The forthcoming sold-out run was expanded due to “phenomenal demand” last month, and includes six concerts at Knebworth and an 11-night residency at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.

Noel Gallagher has promised that the shows will be “so much better” than the 2025 comeback dates. He has also revealed that the band had settled on the idea of another tour early into last year’s trek after seeing the massive response.

Fans have since been talking about the possibility of new material from Oasis and sharing their thoughts on how the setlist could change from 2025. Elsewhere, frontman Liam Gallagher said he “can’t see us touring again unless we have new music”. He previously explained that Live ’27 “isn’t a farewell tour but it still could be our last”.

The new documentary film Don’t Look Back In Anger was released in cinemas on September 9, and is now streaming on Disney+. In a four-and-a-half-star review, NME said the movie was “masterfully done, with moments of irreverence and intense passion burning throughout”.

NME spoke to Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight about his work on the big-screen project. “The question I wanted to answer with this film was: why, after 16 years with no promotion and no marketing, is this music bigger than it’s ever been?” he said.

The directors of the film, Will Southern and Dylan Lovelace, also talked to NME. “It’s shot for spectacle and to put you right in the middle of the crowd,” Southern told us. “If people can watch it on the biggest screen possible, as loud as the cinema is prepared to play it, then they’re going to have a good time!”

In other news, the filmmakers have explained why the documentary doesn’t show how Noel and Liam made up after their long feud.
