Watch the First 10 Minutes of the Superhero Film for Free

Summary

  • Warner Bros. Pictures is offering fans a chance to watch the first 10 minutes of Blue Beetle for free.
  • The DC fandom has responded positively to the extended preview, with many expressing regret for not supporting the film in theaters and praising its quality.
  • Despite receiving positive feedback, Blue Beetle performed poorly at the box office, earning only $125.1 million worldwide against a budget of nearly $105 million.

Warner Bros. Pictures isn’t gifting fans the scarab, or anything that extravagant, but the studio is giving everyone a chance to watch the first 10 minutes of Blue Beetle for free. The new superhero film just dropped on digital, and can be seen for as little as $19.99 on YouTube, Vudu, Amazon Prime Video and Google Play Movies and TV. However, you can check out the beginning of the movie absolutely free below:

Most of the DC fandom is responding positively to the brand-new Warner Bros. extended preview, and many are happily sounding off in reaction to the free footage in the YouTube post’s comments section. @hemonado5030 writes: “Such a shame people didn’t support this. It’s fantastic,” while @SirsasthNigam adds (edited for grammar): “I love this film, regretted not watching it in cinemas.”

Still on the fence on whether to watch the superhero adventure? If so, check out the synopsis of Blue Beetle, which reads as follows:

“Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.”

Cobra Kai Star Xolo Maridueña Leads Blue Beetle

Warner Bros. Pictures

Xolo Maridueña trades in his Cobra Kai gi for the superhero-powered scarab in director Ángel Manuel Soto’s Blue Beetle. Movie audiences reacted to the first go-round of Jaime Reyes (Maridueña) on the big screen much like they did to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 and the critically lambasted Shazam! Fury of the Gods. All of these titles received “B+” CinemaScores.

Unfortunately, none of these films did all that well at the box office. @BrandonKohout writes in the comments section of the Warner Bros. extended preview: “I don’t care if this is a box office bomb or not! It’s considered to be a cult classic! And it’s certified fresh on RottenTomatoes!,” with @eduarortiz8647 adding: “This movie was SO COOL.”

As good as Blue Beetle might be, in terms of cinematic entertainment, the movie crashed and burned at the box office with a worldwide take of only $125.1 million. The budget for Blue Beetle, which doesn’t include the project’s marketing and advertising campaigns, was nearly $105 million.

The film performed badly in the United States, but did even worse business elsewhere. The superhero adventure only made $55 million internationally. By comparison, The Flash — an absolute financial fiasco in cinemas — made as much money in its opening weekend domestically ($55 million) as Blue Beetle did during its entire theatrical run overseas.

Blue Beetle is now available on digital. We await to see whether how popular the DC movie proves to be now that audiences can watch it at home.
