Family of Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine launch wine brand House Of Mustaine

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has launched a new wine brand House Of Mustaine alongside the rest of his family.

The endeavour will blend music, culture and fine winemaking and will see the singer work alongside his relatives Pamela Mustaine as president, Electra Mustaine as vice president and sommelier and Justis Mustaine.

Based in Nashville, House Of Mustaine will draw grapes from vineyards in Italy, California and emerging regions around the world and will make use of “purist techniques” alongside “modern innovation”.

The company has its roots in Megadeth’s collaboration with the San Diego Symphony, which inspired the 2013 Symphony Interrupted Cabernet Sauvignon. The family has now developed a total of ten small-batch limited edition wines, each one named after one of the band’s songs.

There will be two events held in Nashville to celebrate the launch of the brand, with Electra and Pamela hosting a reception and tasting menu at the Italian restaurant Yolan with a range of selection of House of Mustaine’s Marche collection. On February 22, they will team with Edible Nashville for a ‘Farm To Table’ experience at the Frist Art Museum.

In late December, it emerged that Megadeth are back in the studio working on a new album. It will be their 17th studio record and the follow-up to 2022’s ‘The Sick, The Dying And The Dead!’, although it appears that Mustaine is the only one to have begun studio work so far.

In other news, Mustaine revealed in November that he once walked out of emergency neck surgery because Metallica’s manager had insulted him.

“I remember we were scheduled to play Yankee Stadium [in New York] with the Big Four concert the day that they found out I needed my neck to be fused together,” Mustaine explained.

“And so I’m laying on the emergency table and my manager says, ‘Oh, Metallica’s manager called you a pussy because you’re going to get your neck fused together and you’re not going to come out here and play instead.’”

Describing the comment as “a gutless thing to say”, Mustaine sat up from the surgeon’s table at the last possible moment, asked to be injected with “steroids and shit”, and went to play the show. “But it turned out great as far as healing is concerned,” he added.
