Militarie Gun have shared a new single, ‘World’s Away Burning’, featuring Mannequin Pussy. Listen below.
The collaborative song will appear on the deluxe edition of the former NME Cover stars‘ 2025 second studio album, ‘God Save The Gun’, which is released on August 7 via Loma Vista. Pre-order/pre-save here.
The extended version of the Los Angeles outfit’s latest LP contains three new songs, including the cut ‘World’s Always Burning’ with Mannequin Pussy out today. They were initially recorded to appear on ‘God Save The Gun’.
However, upon reflection, the band decided the material felt different to the more internal and first-person perspective themes explored on the record.
“Everything in ‘God Save The Gun’ became so focused on the internal, that when it came to fitting these songs in, it felt like they had stepped outside of that perspective,” explained frontman Ian Shelton.
“In my head these songs started to form into the feeling of finally coming to after being so caught up in your own head, and then realising the rest of the world is still out there and you haven’t been actively participating.”
Mannequin Pussy’s Marisa ‘Missy’ Dabice provides guest vocals on the shimmering’World’s Always Turning’, creating a blend of silky and gritty tones as Militarie Gun bring some jangly guitar influences. Tune in here:

Militarie Gun have performed ‘World’s Away Burning’ a handful of times at their recent shows after debuting the song on stage in early 2025, according to Setlist.FM.
In a four-star review of the original ‘God Save The Gun’, NME hailed the band for reaching “new heights on [their] ambitious second album” – describing it as their “most compelling yet”.
This weekend will see Militarie Gun perform at Latitude Festival 2026 in Suffolk. Later this year, they’ll head out on a North American headline tour before opening for Sex Pistols at a run of shows in the US.
NME spoke to the group around the release of their debut album ‘Life Under The Gun’ in 2023 for The Cover.
“The goal is to connect with as many people as we can,” Shelton told us at the time. “I really have no interest in just staying in the same place as to say that we are a hardcore or not a hardcore band. It’s really just about whatever gives us life.”
The frontman also spoke to us again last year about working with Mannequin Pussy, and said that the track was one that was up in the air as it wasn’t “exposing” enough to make the final cut on the album.
“It’s maybe the opposite of what other bands might do. They might cut all the stuff that is too vulnerable, but that’s the stuff we choose,” he said. “The stuff that isn’t vulnerable enough, we’d cut off the album. That was the way that it ended up working. If it was less intense and less personal, it got cut.
“We love those songs, but it was done because the emotional context for them was not the same as the songs that made it. We had a song with Mannequin Pussy called ‘World’s Always Burning’ that we took off the album, and I’m obsessed with that song! I want it out in the world so bad… but it didn’t have the same thing to say as the rest of the record,” he added. “For us it’s all about keeping track of what’s important in the body of work and staying loyal to what the record is trying to say.”
