Draymond: Warriors roster doesn’t feel ‘committed to winning’

Draymond Green says there’s one major difference between the current Golden State Warriors squad and the one that stormed to a 23-8 mark last season following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler.

“I think everyone was committed to winning and doing that any way possible. Right now, it doesn’t feel that way,” Green told reporters Tuesday after the Warriors’ 126-102 blowout road loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Warriors trailed by as many as 36 points in another dominant performance from the defending champs.

Oklahoma City scored 27 points off 20 turnovers and tallied 16 second-chance points. The Thunder outrebounded the Warriors 40-32, including a plus-four advantage on the offensive glass, as the visitors suffered their third defeat in four games.

Golden State’s defense, which improved significantly with Butler aboard, provided little resistance against Oklahoma City. They surrendered 46 points in the paint, with Chet Holmgren doing most of the damage. The Gonzaga product shot a perfect 9-of-9 from the field, including 7-of-7 in the paint.

Green was asked postgame if “personal agendas” were the root of the Warriors’ recent struggles. The All-Star forward says he has no issues with players having their own personal goals as long as they’re aligned with the club’s best interest.

“I think everyone has a personal agenda in this league, but you have to make the personal agenda work in the team confines,” Green said. “And if it doesn’t work, then you kinda gotta get rid of your agenda or eventually the agenda is the cause of someone getting rid of you.”
