Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Rashid Latif has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its chairman Mohsin Naqvi following the national team’s disastrous Test series defeat in England
Latif argued that the players should not be the only ones facing criticism. Pakistan’s performances have been so poor that the current side has reportedly been described by sections of the British media as the country’s “worst touring team in the last 50 years.”
Latif agreed that Pakistan’s performances on the field have been unacceptable, but he also insisted that the criticism should also extend to the administration, selection committee, and coaching staff.
Speaking on Geo News, Latif said that while everyone was discussing the team’s failures, not enough attention was being paid to the people responsible for running Pakistan cricket.

“Everyone is talking about the Pakistan team, and how it is the worst touring team in the last 50 years. But nobody is speaking about how the current board is the worst in the last 70 years.”
“Nobody is talking about the worst selection committee and coaches,” he added.
Latif’s criticism of the PCB continued
The former Pakistan captain opined that the team’s decline has to be viewed as the result of problems throughout the system, including administration, selection and coaching.
“If you combine these issues, you will get the answer to your question,” Latif said.
“You will know who has ruined this team. Now you are losing consistently. This is the worst cricket board, that’s a fact.”
The debate surrounding Pakistan’s struggles has largely focused on the players and their repeated batting failures. Latif, however, believes the people making the decisions behind the scenes must also be held accountable.

Pakistan’s struggles in England have been particularly severe with the bat. The visitors are yet to cross the 200-run mark in an innings during the series against the English attack.
At Lord’s, Pakistan were bowled out for just 110 in their first innings after England posted 290. The visitors showed greater resistance in the second innings while chasing a target of 388, but another early collapse left them handed them a 194-run defeat.

England have won the series with a 2-0 lead. As a consequence, players such as Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan have been sent home while white-ball coach Mike Hesson is set to take charge for the final Test with red-ball coach Sarfaraz Ahmed likely to be sacked, per Geo News.
The third and final Test match is scheduled for September 9 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
