The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to terms on a three-year extension, $45-million extension with tight end Michael Mayer, sources told ESPN’s Ian Rapoport.
The agreement includes $30 million of guaranteed money and makes Mayer the league’s fourth-highest-paid tight end by annual salary, Rapoport adds.
Mayer, 25, was entering his final year under contract with the Raiders after the franchise selected him in the third round in the 2023 draft.
He recorded a career-best 328 yards and 35 receptions last season on 9.4 yards per carry. His lone touchdown of the year came in a Week 6 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Mayer is projected to play a big role on Las Vegas’ offense to start the season after tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trim earlier this week. The star pass-catcher is reportedly expected to be sidelined for one to two games.
Mayer wasn’t the only tight end to secure a new lucrative deal Saturday. Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft reportedly agreed to a four-year, $75-million extension that could increase to $92 million.
