Report: Rockets trade Porter, who will be waived, to Thunder in 3-player deal

The Houston Rockets are trading Kevin Porter Jr. and a pair of future second-rounders to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Oklahoma City will reportedly waive Porter after acquiring him.

The Thunder netted a 2027 second-round pick via the Minnesota Timberwolves and a 2028 second-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks, adds Wojnarowski.

Porter was arrested in September after allegedly attacking his girlfriend. The 23-year-old is facing charges of second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault. He’s pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Oklahoma City is responsible for the remaining $16.9 million on Porter’s contract. The Thunder will incur a $15.86-million cap hit this season and $1 million in 2024-25, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Oladipo is on an expiring deal. It’s unclear when the two-time All-Star will be ready to suit up after he sustained a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in the opening round of last season’s playoffs.

Robinson-Earl was selected 32nd overall in the 2021 draft. The Villanova product averaged 7.2 points and 4.9 boards over a pair of seasons with the Thunder. He’s got a $2-million club option for the 2024-25 campaign.
