Saleh not expecting ‘any restrictions’ for Rodgers in OTAs

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh expects Aaron Rodgers to be a full participant in the team’s organized team activities later in May.

“We’re not anticipating any restrictions with what we can and can’t do with him,” Saleh said Friday, according to NFL.com’s Nick Shook.

“I know he’s had a couple prior engagements that he’s taking care of, but he’s here, he’s working,” Saleh said. “I mean, the guy can still sling it. Obviously, he’s still working through his rehab, but no issues on the trajectory on which he’s going.”

Rodgers is coming off a torn Achilles sustained in his Week 1 Jets debut last season. He attempted an unlikely comeback late in the campaign but was shut down with the Jets out of playoff contention.

The Jets have prioritized protecting their 40-year-old passer this offseason, bringing in veteran offensive tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses and drafting offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the first round.

New York has also gifted Rodgers several new weapons. Former Los Angeles Chargers standout Mike Williams signed as a free agent, while the Jets drafted wideout Malachi Corley and running back Braelon Allen in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

Rodgers won his third and fourth MVP awards with the Green Bay Packers in 2020 and 2021. But the future Hall of Famer’s production dipped in his final campaign in Green Bay. He finished with his lowest passing yards total for a full season (3,695) while tossing 26 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
