Better Call Saul Cast Members React After Show Comes Up Short at Emmys

Fans of the hit show Better Call Saul were unhappy to see that the series failed to win any awards at the Emmys on Monday night. As it stands, the Breaking Bad prequel has garnered 46 nominations over the course of its six seasons, though it has yet to pick up a single win. This year, the show’s nominations included acting nods for Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn as well as Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for Thomas Schnauz.

After the event, the fans weren’t the only ones who had something to say about the show’s shortcomings. Various cast members joined them in sharing their thoughts on the situation. Odenkirk was not bothered by losing his nomination to Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae, feeling very appreciative of what he has accomplished with the series alongside Seehorn. He posted an image of himself from the Emmy floor along with a kind message for his longtime co-star.

“The last eight years I’ve had the honor of working with the very best onstage and off,” Odenkirk said. “Far far more than I deserved. Rhea, thanks for holding my head off the concrete floor.”

Betsy Brandt, who played Marie Schraeder in Breaking Bad alongside Odenkirk before reprising the role in the Better Call Saul finale, shared the image and added, “The best! Winners, both…”

Michael McKean’s character passed away in season 3, though he appeared in a flashback sequence as Chuck McGill for the finale as well. Ahead of the ceremony, McKean was optimistic about the show’s odds. He subtly posted to Twitter, “I don’t make Emmy predictions, but you know what I’m thinking.” After the show’s losses, McKean added, “Well, f*** that noise.”

Daniel Moncada is an actor who portrayed one of the Salamanca twins, Leonel, in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He made his feelings clear about the situation by posting to Twitter, “That’s some bullsh*t!!”

The Better Call Saul Cast Was Happy to Reunite, Even Without Any Wins

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gustavo Fring in both shows, was another person to get involved in the situation. He posted a couple of photos of himself with others from the series and spoke about how much of an honor it was to attend the ceremony and reunite with his friends. He also provided a positive message of support for everyone who had been nominated for the night, no matter the outcome.

“It was an honor attending the Emmys last night with my Better Call Saul family!” Esposito wrote. “So grateful for our show and the amazing people I’ve met along the way. Congrats to all the nominees and winners!”

Better Call Saul will get a final shot at Emmy gold, as the second half of the sixth and final season will be eligible for next year’s Emmys. Perhaps they’ll finally pull off the win with their very last chance. It would certainly be well-deserved, albeit long overdue.
