Force Trailer Announces February Release Date on Starz

Across six seasons, Power became one of Starz’s most watched and highest rated shows, telling the story of James St. Patrick, a drug dealer who works under the alias of “Ghost” but wants to go legit running a nightclub, however with his marriage in trouble, children who are getting too close to the dark world he is trying to escape and a former partner in crime who doesn’t want St. Patrick to step out of the game, it is not as easy as it sounds. When the series came to an end, there were a lot of characters with stories still to tell and Starz announced that they had four spin-offs planned. The third of those, Power Book IV: Force has just dropped a first look teaser that brought with it a confirmed premiere date of February 6th, 2022.

The newest addition to the Power Universe brings Tommy Egan to the fore, the character who spent much of the original series of Power attempting to keep James St. Patrick in the corrupt world he thrived in and was played by Joseph Sikora. Sikora reprises his role here as Egan leaves New York to head to Chicago to start a new life of crime in a new city.

The series synopsis reads, “As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades. What was supposed to be a quick stop turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried. One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews. In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them – but holds the power to watch them crumble. Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago.”

Power’s first season brought many mixed reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes approval rate not making it above 50% at any point, however the series gained the attention of audiences with its intricate plotting, excessive violence and frequent and brutal plot twists, leading to its second season pulling off a 100% Rotten Tomatoes approval rate, something that it also achieved in its final seasons.

Power Book II: Ghost picked up the story in the aftermath of the flagship series, shifting the focus to St. Patrick’s son, who attempts to shake off his father’s legacy but finds that his life of crime is something that is hard to balance with his education and family life. Power Book III: Raising Kanan provided a prequel story for 50 Cent’s character from the series and was released in July this year, gaining itself a second season renewal before the premiere episode debuted. Following Power Book IV: Force, there is one more spin off to come in the form of Power Book V: Influence, which will be another sequel series centering on politician Larenz Tate and his rise to power through corruption.

While this is not likely to be the end of the Power saga, with series renewals a possibility for any of these spin offs as long as there is a story to be told and an audience tuning in, all good things come to an end at some point and we should savor these last two spin-offs just in case this does turn out to be the end of the road for these characters.
