First came the best-selling book. Then came the acclaimed film adaptation. Next came the hit series iteration. And up next will be…another series? This appears to be the plan for Friday Night Lights, following the show’s successful run from 2006 to 2011. Filmmaker Jeffrey Reiner served as the show’s executive producer, and the beloved Connie Britton led the dynamite cast, both of whom recently spoke to MovieWeb in separate interviews about their hit series that fans continue to enjoy in syndication and on streaming platforms.
Reiner, who was promoting his new film Lake George, gave a twist on “no comment” in terms of thoughts on the upcoming show revival plans — a telling answer that perhaps speaks volumes. “I don’t know. It’s like, that’s the business. It’s like, do we really need another Friday Night Lights? Why?” he told us. “People can go watch it. It just feels, I don’t know. I don’t have really a comment on it.”

Jeffrey Reiner discusses his hard-boiled new movie ‘Lake George,’ which reunites ‘Fargo’ Season 3 stars Carrie Coon and Shea Whigham.
Reiner went on to explain how the remarkable O.G. show impacted him in unique ways:
“That’s probably the show that has had the most effect on me career-wise. And yeah, it was a really incredible situation. It kind of ruined a lot of us who worked on it because… we were this small, little show that never gave the network any trouble, and we made it for so cheap. But we broke every rule in television that there was to be broken, so it was almost like making indie movies every single week. So I don’t think you could get any better as experience than working on that television show.”

What Tami Taylor Is Doing After ‘Friday Night Lights’
Britton, meanwhile, spoke to MovieWeb amid the release of her new thriller Here After and offered a hypothetical glimpse into her beloved Friday Night Lights character Tami Taylor’s possible future following the show’s bittersweet finale in 2011, which saw her transplanting from Texas to Philadelphia.
“Don’t you think they’ve gone back to Texas by now? I mean, I don’t think they’re really Philly people,” Britton told MovieWeb. “I think [Tami] did a great job, and I think she probably went back to Texas, and she’s now, I don’t know, maybe she’s at SMU or something. I don’t know, I feel like they’re back in Texas… But she’s still, like, the president of a college or something.”
Based on the book of the same name, Friday Night Lights is a sports drama series that centers around the Dillon Panthers, a high school football team in Texas. The show focuses on the small town and the community they share, tackling major social and political issues and the players’ challenges as they go through an increasingly difficult season.
