Is Days of Our Lives About to SORAS a New Batch of Kids?

We all knew this day would come, and we dreaded it.

Another batch of precocious kids on Days of Our Lives may be rapidly aged again.

Last weekend, Cary Christopher, who has portrayed Thomas Dimera for almost six years, announced he had left the soap opera because he’s been busy with other projects.

Since Alice Halsey has also become a rising young star, we’re concerned that Rachel Black could be recast soon, too.

When Rising Stars Become So Busy, Soaps Need to Adjust Storylines 

Soap operas often make rising stars, and that’s certainly the case for Cary Christopher.

The young actor will be a series regular in Prime Video‘s faith-based drama, It’s Not Like That, led by Scott Foley.

He was recently featured in the film Weapons and is set to star in two superhero series, including Lanterns and Spider Noir.

We’re thrilled for him, but we will miss him.

Thomas has always been close to Chad, and while I understand why he’s angry that his father lied about dating Cat, the drama seemed contrived.

It seems convenient that he’d issue an ultimatum that he’d move away with his grandparents if Chad doesn’t stop dating Cat.

With the Days of Our Lives taping schedule, we don’t know how much longer the current Thomas will air, but it could be several months.

Alice Halsey has become busy too, since she landed the role of Laura Ingalls on Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie.

While she only has one other project so far, if they rapidly age Thomas, I suspect they’ll do the same to her since they’ve been hanging out frequently.

If Rachel remembers that she shot EJ, she could spend some time in Bayview and return with a new actress playing her.

Even Though Chad Is a Young Father, SORAS Doesn’t Always Make Sense

We’ve heard rumors that Thomas has been recast, so I suspect the new Thomas will first appear in 2026, when Connor Floyd takes on the role of new Chad.

We are still unsure whether Thomas will remain a preteen or be rapidly aged to a teenager.

I suspect they’ll advance his age to about 15 or 16, especially if Cary Christopher’s Thomas goes to live with Jack and Jen for a few months.

The change won’t be as shocking as it was when Ciara went from 11 to 16 in just a few days in 2015.

Ciara Brady was one of the few child characters from Days of Our Lives played by the same actor for years, and we felt attached to Lauren Boles, just as we hate losing Cary Christopher.

The only other recent one was Arianna Horton, and we were shocked when Days of Our Lives aged her to a teenager, given Will and Gabi’s ages.

Chad is about the same age as them, and Thomas was born only two years later. I don’t think he should be an older teen.

There are plenty of storylines that they could do if he and Rachel were younger teens.
