Kim Kardashian and Ryan Murphy to Reunite for Legal Drama

Summary

  • Kim Kardashian is teaming up with Ryan Murphy for a scripted legal drama, where she will play a divorce attorney and lead an all-female law firm.
  • Kardashian’s role as an attorney in the series is fitting, as she is currently studying law and plans to take the bar exam in February.
  • The upcoming legal drama is part of Ryan Murphy’s new deal with Disney and will likely premiere in early 2025. Kardashian is also set to star in and produce other projects, including an ensemble comedy on Netflix.

Following their collaboration on American Horror Story: Delicate, series co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy and Kim Kardashian are going for round two. According to Deadline, Murphy and Kardashian are reuniting for a scripted legal drama. The publication describes the upcoming series, which is scheduled to begin production late next year, as a “high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural.” Kardashian will star as a top Los Angeles divorce attorney and the owner of an all-female law firm. Preliminary casting for Kardashian’s on-screen colleagues and a love interest is underway.

Portraying an attorney may be a natural fit for Kardashian who is in the process of becoming an attorney herself, following in the footsteps of her late father, famed OJ Simpson defense team counsel Robert Kardashian. Kim Kardashian passed the baby bar in 2021 and plans to take the bar next February (California is one of few states where someone can take the state bar exam without attending law school).

Kardashian’s “momager” and reality television star Kris Jenner is also joining in on the fun; she will executive produce the series alongside Murphy and Kardashian. The three sold the project to Hulu – the streamer that airs The Kardashians.

Kardashian is a successful reality television personality and business entrepreneur (best known for her $4 billion company SKIMS); while she has made guest appearances on scripted shows before and voiced the character of Delores for Paw Patrol, American Horror Story: Delicate marked her first starring role. When Murphy announced Kardashian’s casting in the 12th season of the horror anthology series, he praised her, calling her “among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world.” Despite Murphy’s enthusiasm for Kardashian’s involvement in the AHS universe, some questioned whether Kardashian would be able to deliver.

The first part of AHS: Delicate, reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby and based on a novel by Danielle Valentine, premiered on September 20, and audiences were overwhelmingly pleasantly surprised by Kardashian’s portrayal of former-actress-turned-publicist Siobhan Walsh (the Daily Beast even called her “far and away the best part of ‘AHS: Delicate.'”)

The second part of AHS: Delicate, starring Emma Roberts, Kardashian, Cara Delevingne, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Matt Czuchry, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Odessa A’zion, Billie Lourd, Julie White, Debra Monk, and Denis O’Hare, will premiere in 2024.

Kardashian is also set to star in, and produce, the ensemble comedy The Fifth Wheel. Written by Paula Pell (Saturday Night Live) and Janine Brito (Bless the Harts), the film landed on Netflix following a competitive bidding war. No word yet on a premiere date.
