Manifest Creator Refuses to Give Up on Saving the Series

Manifest may not have reached the end of the line after all, as creator Jeff Rake isn’t giving up in his mission to save the popular series. After three seasons on NBC, the show was officially canceled by the network earlier this month. Because of its popularity on Netflix, there had been hope that the streaming service would save the show by picking it up for a fourth season, but they opted to pass on Manifest as well.

With NBC and Netflix in agreement that Manifest is best left with three seasons, it would appear that the show is finished. Not all hope is lost, however, as Rake says the Manifest team is still looking for a new home for the show. In a message to fans posted to Twitter, Rake says how the fans deserve an ending, and the continued discussions about the series can only help its chances of a continuation elsewhere.

“Manifesters! Your support is awe-inspiring. We’re trying to find a way to conclude the series. Could take a week, a month, a year. But we’re not giving up. You deserve an end to the story. Keep the conversation alive. If it works out, it’s because of YOU.”

Despite Manifest’s problems in securing a fourth season, the show has only grown in popularity since getting canceled. A later tweet from Rake acknowledges how the series was back in the No. 1 slot on Netflix’s most-watched titles, and he encourages the fans to “keep it going.” If the series continues to draw high viewership on Netflix for some time to come, there’s always a chance the streamer will reconsider picking up the show.

Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018. The series follows the passengers and crew of a commercial airliner who goes missing for more than five years, only to mysteriously arrive at their destination as if no time has passed. It stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor. Some of the stars of the series expressed their dismay when the show’s cancelation was announced.

“Oh, to put into words the last three years…. Thanks for everyone who joined on with us. I’m forever grateful for the family of misfits and creators that wound up at Silvercup studios. When you film a show, you spend all day every day with these people,” Roxburgh said on Twitter. “They truly become your family, your friends, your therapists, your entertainment….everything.”

They truly become your family, your friends, your therapists, your entertainment….everything.You guys have no idea what you’ll forever mean to me. I’ve had some of the greatest days of my life on the stages of Manifest, playing pretend with people who have seeped into my heart.

She added: “You guys have no idea what you’ll forever mean to me. I’ve had some of the greatest days of my life on the stages of Manifest, playing pretend with people who have seeped into my heart.”

Like other cast members, Roxburgh has been retweeting Rake’s updates on his continued efforts to save the series. It may not end up working out in the end, but it certainly won’t be from a lack of effort of the cast and crew, along with a continued fan campaign on social media with the popular hashtag #SaveManifest. Manifest can be found streaming on Netflix. Time will tell if the series ever continues elsewhere. You can keep updated with the creator’s quest to save the series by following Jeff Rake on Twitter.
