Nick Frost has been in multiple acclaimed films in 2024, from Black Cab to Krazy House, and recently, Get Away. Meanwhile, Simon Pegg is reprising his long-running role in the next Mission: Impossible film, and will be in Ice Age 6. Director Edgar Wright is following his hit Last Night in Soho with the highly-anticipated remake of The Running Man. They’re all successful creatives, but 25 years ago, before their films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, they were relatively unknown artists who came together (with the great Jessica Hynes) for an era-defining TV show, Spaced.
Spaced was a groundbreaking comedy series that set the stage for their careers, despite only having 14 episodes across two seasons. Fans have always wondered, will there ever be more Spaced? Nick Frost, hot off writing and acting in the new dark comedy thriller Get Away, told MovieWeb in a recent interview:
“I think we’re always keen just to keep going and to not look back so much. But yeah, of course, we could do something, but it wouldn’t be the same, and I think you’d run the risk of potentially f*cking up something you’ve already done and it not being as good, or people not liking it as much, or turning against it because you’ve f*cked up the canon.”
“We’re also kind of lucky that, if we do it right, we get a chance to — you know, we’ve essentially looked into the evolution of male friendships throughout our 20s and our 30s and into our 50s,” added Frost. “And there’s no rush. If we make another film, and me and Simon are both in our 60s, it’s like, well, we’re involved again, you know? It’s like, let’s see what this relationship’s like. And I think we’re really lucky that the stuff we’ve done has meant that people who like our stuff are also aging with us at the same time. Hopefully, if we do it right, it would feel like we’re talking directly to them, which we just are.”

Nick Frost is stepping into the spotlight once again, and it’s the perfect time to revisit some of his best and most essential movies of all time.
Aisling Bea on the Prolific Genius of Nick Frost, Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright
Aisling Bea stars in Frost’s new film Get Away, giving a wonderful performance as the matriarch of a small family on holiday. The very funny actor, writer, and Taskmaster star spoke with MovieWeb alongside Frost, and weighed in on the prospect of a new iteration of Spaced. “Edgar and Simon and Nick generate so many ideas and actually get stuff made. Like, I generate a lot of ideas and never put pen to paper. They all actuate and realize their work,” explained Bea, who added:
“It’s like, there’s only so much in a lifetime people can get done. It takes a long time. Nick has been working on this project for, like, eight years, and I’m not sure people understand how much work goes into stuff, but they all still do work together and collaborate together. And there’s something about like, leave that to people who maybe don’t have any new ideas.”
“But [Frost, Pegg, and Wright] generate so much stuff that there’s new ideas and new ways of taking the essence of those things. Which I think you guys all did, you take the essence of the chemistry between you and Simon and Edgar, you put it into so many other places that kind of has made magic elsewhere as well,” added Bea. Whatever the future of Spaced, in the meantime, you can watch Bea and Frost in the new film Get Away from IFC Films and Shudder, now in theaters. Spaced is streaming for free on The Roku Channel, Freevee, and on Tubi through the link below:
