Ali Corbin (Look, Neighbors, My Birthday Romance) landed the coveted role of Kari Baxter Jacobs, whose life is the focal point of Season 1. Corbin is joined by co-stars Masey McLain (Ashley Baxter), Josh Plasse (Luke Baxter), Reilly Anspaugh (Erin Baxter) and Emily Peterson (Brooke Baxter), all of whom portray Kari’s siblings. The creative genius behind The Baxters, Karen Kingsbury, didn’t begin her literary career penning the various Baxter-related series. In fact, the author’s first published work was actually a non-fiction, true-crime tale, Missy’s Murder: Passion, Betrayal, and Murder in Southern California, which was published in 1991. Today, in addition to the Prime Video series, Kingsbury’s Baxter-Family book, Someone Like You, is getting the big-screen treatment, and the film adaptation of the same name hits theaters on April 2. But first, The Baxters is dropping for fans to stream and binge-watch. Kingsbury said in a recent interview (per Variety):

“Since the day Roma Downey asked for my blessing in making the Baxter family literary series into a televised show, I have dreamed that it might find a home on Prime Video. Many millions of readers are going to be thrilled over this news. It is a dream come true.”

In addition to starring as the Baxter family’s matriarch, Roma Downey also serves as an executive producer on the project. Downey said:

With over 25 million fans of the Baxter series books, we know audiences are going to love this family drama brought to life. And I am personally so excited to bring more inspirational content to Prime Video.
