Bumpsuit The Kate Jumpsuit Review

Ever since my bump started really growing, I’ve been on the hunt for new, more forgiving maternity wardrobe staples. To be honest, there (shockingly) aren’t very many options out there at a reasonable price point. How many luxury pieces can one possibly afford after factoring in cribs, changing tables, and everything else needed to fully stock a nursery? When my Instagram feed began to solely consist of pregnant women and babies (probably because the majority of what I talk about these days is pregnancy and babies), Bumpsuit’s The Kate ($135) popped up nearly every time I unlocked my iPhone. At the six-month mark of my pregnancy, I decided that it was finally time to try the jumpsuit. My only wish is that I had been wearing it every month before that.

Considering that my husband is a chef — and together we run Klein Kitchen, a boutique matchmaking platform for private chefs in Los Angeles — we’re pretty much always eating. Therefore, I am constantly searching for cute, stretchy things to wear (prepregnancy, but even more so now). Comfort is probably the most important part of any pregnant woman’s wardrobe.

Comfort is probably the most important part of any pregnant woman’s wardrobe.

Once my Bumpsuit arrived, I was instantly sold. The fabric is incredible — it is so unbelievably soft, with the perfect amount of stretch. Jumpsuits can be a challenge while pregnant, when you have to pee almost every second of the day, but the material is so seamless to pull off and put on that it truly isn’t an issue. It’s not surprising to me at all that celebrities from Emily Ratajkowski to Kelly Rowland are fans of the brand, which was founded by Australian model Nicole Trunfio.

The biggest bonus: wearing a jumpsuit means I only have to choose one item of clothing to put on each morning, which is a godsend when I have dozens of other things on my mind. It’s also incredibly flattering and really makes you feel sexy (another big challenge during pregnancy). I can wear it solo with sneakers, or layer on a sweater or light jacket to dress it up for an outdoor dinner. It also works just as well as loungewear, so it still fits my pandemic lifestyle.

Bumpsuit offers styles for every season, and I plan to order every single one so I can wear them for the remaining three months of my pregnancy. The $135 price tag may be steep, but since The Kate is also designed for postpartum use, I’ll probably definitely wear my Bumpsuit long after the baby arrives. Look ahead to shop your own.
