The Case for Ditching Liquid Haircare This Fashion Month

Fashion month means five weeks of packing, unpacking, and repacking between cities, which is reason enough to reconsider what earns a spot in the bag. Between New York, London, Milan, and Paris, the schedule adds up to weeks of hotel rooms, quick city-to-city turnarounds, and whatever shampoo is bolted to the shower wall that week. For anyone living out of a carry-on this season, backstage or front row, liquid haircare is a logistics problem hiding inside a beauty routine: bottles that leak into a garment bag, size limits that leave you rationing with every wash, and hotel products that rarely match what your hair needs.

The bigger issue is the effect fashion month has on your hair and scalp. Heat tools get more use during a run of shows than during a normal week at home, cabin air and hotel HVAC systems dry out strands and scalp alike, and tap water varies from city to city – some are hard enough to leave a film behind after a wash. Add in the dry shampoo used to stretch a style between early calls and late fittings, and hair is already carrying more buildup and more stress than usual. Under studio lighting and camera flashes, that buildup shows up as dullness, flatness, or a texture that will not hold a curl the way it did back home.

That is where ingredients start to matter more than they might. Formulas built around sulfates, silicones, and synthetic fragrance tend to strip and coat hair rather than support it, which becomes a bigger problem when hair is already dealing with heat, dryness, and constant restyling. Cleaner formulas will not undo a month of blow-drying on their own, but they remove one more source of irritation from a scalp that is already working overtime, and they tend to rinse clean instead of building up over a week with no rest days. For hair getting reworked into a new style every night, starting from a cleaner base each time makes the next round of heat and product easier to undo later.

The Earthling Co designed its Jet-Setter Bundle with frequent travelers in mind. The set pairs a shampoo bar with a matching conditioner bar, each available in a volumizing or moisturizing formula and offered in six scent pairings, including Vanilla Coconut and Citrus Sun, plus an unscented option for anyone managing a sensitive scalp mid-tour. Neither bar relies on sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, or synthetic dyes, and the set ships with a self-draining case built to hold both bars without turning a garment bag into a cleanup job by the next city.

he brand’s newest addition, a scalp serum built for the kind of scalp fatigue a five-city run might cause, extends that same approach beyond the shower. It joins a wider catalog of clinically tested formulas the company has built around one standard: a non-toxic formula should not have to underperform compared to whatever else is sitting on a shelf. For a kit that already has to do double duty during an intense season, that standard matters more than a claim on a label.

None of this asks anyone to overhaul a routine overnight. It asks for one packing decision: trade three half-used bottles for a case that holds up no matter how packed the schedule gets, and give a scalp that’s already working hard one less stressor to absorb. That matters just as much backstage during fashion week as it does for anyone who wants healthier hair and a fresh, put-together look without leaning on styling to get there. It’s a small edit, but it’s the kind that keeps paying off.
