Saint Laurent, Carven, and Elie Saab, to name a few, sent bold and vampy oxblood lips down their Fall/Winter ‘26 runways. We chatted with some of your favorite celebs’ go-to artists to see what Oxblood lippies they always reach for. (Making sure we’re all on the same page, oxblood is not just your everyday red lip. It’s a deeper, moodier shade that blends crimson and rich brown undertones to give you a sexy and mysterious deep oxidized red that reads almost black in low light.) If you’re looking for longwear, Brittany Whitfield-Morrison, makeup artist to stars like Tinashe, Thuso Mbedu, and Joan Smalls, loves Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in ‘ Naughty Burgundy.
“I have been using this formula for years,” she says. “Way before Kylie’s era! This was my go-to oxblood color! Don’t be deceived by the color in the mass tone; once it dries down it’s that delicious rich cranberry sauce color. But matte!”

The switch from nude subtle lips can be intimidating. If you want a more ‘dip a toe’ entry into oxblood lips, try M.PH By Mary Phillips Lip Ciggy Sheer Lipstick Balm in ‘Uncensored’ . “The texture of this lip is my absolute fave at the moment. Just enough pigment to be there but a luster texture so lips look lush and hydrated. This shade is the perfect easy to wear oxblood stain that can be pumped up with a deeper liner underneath,” says Dreadon.

Before you start applying, a little prep goes a long way. Oxblood is far less forgiving than a nude, so exfoliate and moisturize first. Then line and fill with pencil before you layer your color on top. Want it sharp? Clean up the edges with a dab of concealer on a flat brush. Want it lived-in? Press the color in with your fingertip and blur the edges for that just-left-the-afterparty stain.
Either way, the message from the runway is loud and clear, the clean girl had a good run. This season, the lip does the talking. Consider your nudes officially on sabbatical, babes!
