Maria Becerra and Her Father Unite to Celebrate Dr. René Favaloro’s Legacy

Maria Becerra released a tribute documentary honoring Dr. René Favaloro this week, and it might be the most meaningful project she’s ever tackled.

The Argentine pop star teamed up with Resumido Info to produce the film, now out. The documentary celebrates Dr. Favaloro’s life and legacy. He’s the iconic Argentine cardiac surgeon. He became one of the 20th century’s most important figures in cardiovascular medicine. Fundacion Favaloro, the foundation bearing his name, backed the project. Journalist Diego Leuco helped bring it all together.

On Instagram, Becerra shared the news in Spanish. She described Dr. Favaloro as “a great reference not only for our country, but also for the world.” The post drew over 304,000 likes, an impressive number for a documentary reveal.

For anyone unfamiliar with Dr. Favaloro, here’s the short version: he’s a giant. He was born in La Plata, Argentina. He trained as a doctor and eventually made his way to the Cleveland Clinic in the United States. In the 1960s, he developed coronary artery bypass surgery there. He later returned home to Argentina and founded Fundacion Favaloro. His work helped save millions of lives. He’s one of the most celebrated figures in Argentine history.

Putting his story in front of Becerra’s massive audience could introduce Dr. Favaloro to a whole new generation. And with her reach across Latin America and beyond, that’s a genuinely exciting prospect.

Becerra clearly has a personal stake in this story. Her father, Dr. Pedro Becerra, is a doctor himself. He joined his daughter in making the documentary. She made sure to thank him in her Instagram caption, expressing gratitude to “my dad, Dr. Pedro Becerra, for accompanying me.”

That detail is what gives this project real heart. A Latin pop star and her doctor dad coming together to honor one of medicine’s greatest names? That’s a cool and heartwarming combination. It makes the whole thing feel genuine. This isn’t a celebrity lending her name to a project from a distance. She brought family.

Becerra also made excellent choices in collaborators. Resumido Info has built a following by making complex, weighty topics accessible and engaging for wide audiences. Fundacion Favaloro’s involvement adds real credibility. And Diego Leuco, a well-known Argentine journalist, brings a trusted media presence to the mix.

On the music front, Becerra has been one of Argentina’s biggest pop exports in recent years. Her Latin pop and reggaeton tracks have earned her a serious fanbase. But she’s always seemed like someone with more on her mind than chart performance. Projects like this one make that clear.

Over 304,000 likes on a documentary announcement is a strong signal. That kind of response on a non-music project says a lot. Her audience clearly trusts her judgment, and right now she’s pointing them at a story worth knowing.
