The Santo Padre Charter Prepares for War

After many months, the long-awaited fourth season of Mayans. M.C. has finally kicked off. With absolutely no time wasted, the season premiere began immediately where the previous season finale left off. The Mayans are clearly at war with each other, and the first two opening episodes revealed a ton of bloodshed as the battle takes place in Santo Padre.

The season 3 finale left the members of the Mayans probably in their most challenging position yet. The Santo Padre charter’s goal was to unite several of the other charters under one leader, but the plan ended up backfiring, which then led the charters to a civil war. Now, that war has arrived at the doorstep of Santo Padre in the final minutes of the season 3 finale. Meanwhile, Taza decides to confess to Bishop that he was the one that killed Riz, not the Vatos Malditos. Moments later, a gunshot is heard from inside the clubhouse, not revealing any details if Bishop did actually kill Taza or not.

Mayans M.C. was co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James and follows the life of Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (JD Pardo), a member of the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp, EZ, his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas), and the rest of the Santo Padre M.C. face retaliation from other chapters after a failed attempt to align under one King. Meanwhile, EZ and Angel have grown distant from their father Felipe (Edward James Olmos) after a heart-wrenching betrayal.

Mayans M.C. takes place in the same universe as the long-running series Sons of Anarchy. The series picked up two and a half years after the events of Sons of Anarchy. The cast also includes Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Michael Irby, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero, and Vincent Vargas. Mayans M.C. is produced by 20th Television and FX Productions, with Elgin James, Kurt Sutter, and Hilton Smith set as executive producers.

War descends on Santo Padre. As the civil war kicks into high gear, EZ and the rest of the Santo Padre charter have no choice, but to survive. With bullets flying, fire burning, and blood spilling, it seems that only one charter is going to make it out alive. During the epic stand-off, EZ himself has proven to make quite a good leader, while it seems that Bishop is somewhat losing control. While they refuse to call the police, the Santo Padre charter realizes that they must be smart with how they use their remaining ammo. It is also revealed that both Taz and Canche are still alive.

In the end, with the Santo Padre charter pinned down in the clubhouse and completely out of ammo, EZ comes up with a plan of his own. He realizes that everyone’s best option for survival is to give himself up to Canche. EZ then walks out of the clubhouse to surrender himself, as the rest of the charter walks out with him, revealing that they will pay the price together as a brotherhood. Before Canche and his men can execute the Santo Padre charter, a surprising twist takes place. Marcus enters the now ended battle and ensures everyone that the club still belongs to him.

Episode 402 – Hymn Among the Ruins

FX Network

The club navigates a tenuous new world order. With the second episode starting off with a four-month time jump, it has been revealed that Bishop has been demoted to Vice President, while Marcus claims his original position as President. Angel and Nails seem to be happier than ever as their baby is expected to arrive soon. The Santo Padre charter are having a hard time with the new adjustments that were made by Marcus. It seems that Creeper will have a love interest this season where a woman speaks with him after a recovering addicts meeting.

At the clubhouse, Taza tries to make amends with Bishop, but it backfires. EZ is still refusing to speak to his father, as Angel tries to convince EZ to just let go of the past. We also get to see another flashback of EZ during his time in prison. In the end, Hank arrives at Marcus’ home and reveals that the Santo Padre charter still looks at Bishop as their leader despite Marcus being the President. The San Bernardino Sons of Anarchy charter plots to make a move against the Mayans, as something disturbing was discovered hiding behind the Santo Padre clubhouse.

Mayans M.C. Boss Teases What’s Ahead in Season 4

IMDb

Reflecting on the show’s third season, showrunner Elgin James tells EW that he was inspired by Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. “Every season we had themes, and Huckleberry Finn felt right for this season,” he says. “It’s such an American novel and this is an American show, that’s what I wanted to get across. I know we get put into a box because we have this beautiful, mostly Latinx cast and crew, but maybe America just looks a little different than people think it is in their minds.”

During the season 3 finale, Gaby chose herself and her future as she left behind the man she loves in Santo Padre. But her departure will take EZ “south of the light,” James says. “He’s got places to go and some bridges to burn now.” As for Isaac (JR Bourne), ruler of Meth Mountain, right before Gilly put a bullet into Isaac, and a reaper tattoo was shown that mysteriously connects Isaac to SAMCRO.

“We have to wait and see what happens with him,” James teases. “[Bourne] is my dude, he was in my movie Little Birds. What he brought this season, man, people love to hate him! When we shot those Meth Mountain scenes, it was 32 degrees. So, will we go back there? We may. Are we done with Isaac? Who knows?”

The fourth season of Mayans M.C. premiered on Tuesday, April 19, starting at 10 pm ET/PT. The season started off with two episodes airing back-to-back on FX, with the new episodes streaming on Hulu the next day. The latest season will also consist of a total of 10 episodes, the same as the show’s previous seasons. There are no current announcements pertaining to the renewal of the show’s fifth season at this time.
