Wu-Tang Clan co-founder Oliver ‘Power’ Grant has died, aged 52.
The producer, actor and fashion mogul’s death was confirmed on Wu-Tang Clan’s official social media channels last night (Wednesday February 25).
“Rest in Power, Power 🕊️,” the caption read, alongside a photograph of Grant. A cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man posted his own tribute to his long-time collaborator. “Paradise my brother safe travels!” he shared on Instagram. “I am not OK.”
GZA wrote: “We couldn’t have done it without him. Wu wouldn’t have come to fruition without Power. His passing is a profound loss to us all. My deepest condolences to the fam.”

Grant was born in 1973 in Jamaica and raised in New York’s Staten Island. He grew up in the Park Hill Projects, where he met the members of Wu-Tang Clan. They gave him the nickname “Power” over a game of chess.
The news of Grant’s passing follows the announcement that Wu-Tang Clan have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2026. However, Grant – who was not a performing member of the collective – was not listed on the Hall’s nominee roster.
Grant executive produced the group’s early recordings and oversaw their successful fashion line, Wu Wear, which launched in 1995.
He reportedly made an early financial investment in Wu-Tang Clan in the early ’90s, and raised funds for them to produce their debut single ‘Protect Ya Neck’. He later executive-produced their first album, 1993’s ‘Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’.
In a 2011 interview with Passion Of The Weiss, Grant described his business ventures as a “hard-knock life”, and said that “you figure it out as you go along, and take cues from those that are actively doing things”.
“A lot of it was trial and error. There were no models,” he explained.
“Wu Wear was pretty much like our entry in the fashion biz. But before I was in Wu Wear, I was making and marketing the first Wu records with RZA. Everything that we learned was hard-knock life.”
In 2008, Grant renamed Wu Wear as Wu-Tang Brand and discontinued the original brand, which was being widely counterfeited. In 2017, however, Grant and RZA relaunched Wu Wear with Live Nation Merchandise.
Grant is also known for his occasional acting roles. He made his big-screen debut in the 1998 US crime drama Belly, before acting alongside Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr in 1999’s Black And White.
