Dan Harmon’s Newest Animated Series Krapopolis Marches Towards Its Debut on Fox

Fox has officially announced the premiere date for Dan Harmon‘s latest creation, Krapopolis. Fans of Harmon’s work can watch an exclusive two-episode preview during its debut. It will initially air on Sunday, September 24th as per Variety.

The special premiere will air following the NFL doubleheader, positioning Krapopolis as a must-watch for the evening. The series will then settle into its regular time slot on Sunday, October 1, at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. This is part of Fox’s Animation Domination block, ensuring a robust and captivating lineup for animated comedy enthusiasts.

A significant milestone for Fox, Krapopolis stands as the first wholly owned animated series by the network. The project was greenlit in June 2020, in line with Dan Harmon’s exclusive direct animation deal with the network. Notably, Harmon serves as the creator and executive producer of this new endeavor. He is known for his creative genius behind hits like Community and Rick and Morty.

The plot of Krapopolis takes viewers on a journey back in time to Ancient Greece, where a unique and highly dysfunctional family consisting of humans, gods, and monsters attempt to govern one of the earliest cities known to history. Their struggles to coexist and lead without descending into chaos and mutual destruction promise to offer viewers a high dose of hilarity and drama.

For subsequent Seasons 2 and 3, Alex Rubens will step in as the showrunner, ensuring continuity and preserving the creative essence of the series.

In terms of scheduling, Krapopolis slots neatly into Fox’s Animation Domination block lineup. The evening will kick off with The Simpsons at 8 p.m., segueing into Krapopolis, followed by Bob’s Burgers at 9 p.m., and then wrapping up with Family Guy at 9:30 p.m.

This mix of shows aspires to offer a broad spectrum of comedic narratives and engaging storytelling to their audiences.

Though an official full-length trailer for Krapopolis is still in the offing, an extended preview clip has been released. The preview left eager fans with an engaging peek into this new animated world.

The clip introduces Tyrannis, a character voiced by Richard Ayoade, at a city meeting grappling with the advent of a Medusa-like figure. This preview not only acquaints viewers with the primary characters, but it also provides a sample of the series’ distinctive comedic flavor. It further heightens the excitement for the show’s inaugural episode.
