Friends Stars Jennifer Aniston & David Schwimmer Share an Awkward Encounter in Super Bowl Ad

Summary

  • Friends star Jennifer Aniston forgets who David Schwimmer is in a new Super Bowl ad, creating an awkward encounter.
  • The ad highlights the abundance of items that can be ordered from Uber Eats, overshadowing Aniston’s memory of Schwimmer.
  • The ad ends with Schwimmer looking heartbroken, saying “I hate this town.”

It seems they are still very much on a break, as Friends star Jennifer Aniston inconveniently forgets who longtime co-star David Schwimmer is in a new Super Bowl ad. The ad, which has been released as part of the Uber Eats campaign, finds Aniston running into Schwimmer in what should be a wonderful moment for both the actors themselves and the fans of Friends. Instead, things get awkward as Aniston has forgotten who Schwimmer is in order to remember certain things about the online food ordering and delivery platform. As you do.

You can check out the Uber Eats Super Bowl ad below.

“To remember Uber Eats delivers almost, almost anything, all you have to do is forget something else,” the caption alongside the new ad reads. “Simply make a little room in your brain – like Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, USHER, the Beckhams, and Jelly Roll do.”

The ad begins with Jennifer Aniston being given a delivery on set, before being reminded of the sheer abundance of items that can now be ordered from Uber Eats as the twin themes of gluttony and convenience clash together to form this, the modern world. Suddenly, Aniston comes face to face with her Friends co-star David Schwimmer, with whom she starred in the sitcom throughout all 10 seasons of the show as Rachel and Ross, respectively.

Unfortunately, thanks to the bombardment of information about Uber Eats, Aniston has pushed the memory of Schwimmer out of her brain, leading to an encounter far more awkward than any seen on the sitcom. The ad ends with Schwimmer looking heartbroken as he laments, “I hate this town.”

Super Bowl LVIII will broadcast live on Sunday, February 11, at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on CBS and Nickelodeon, and on streaming on Paramount+.

The Friends Cast Have Paid Tribute to the Late Matthew Perry

The cast of Friends have sadly been going through a tough time following the death of co-star Matthew Perry. Both Aniston and Schwimmer shared a joint statement following the news, in which they said:

“Oh boy this one has cut deep… Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before. We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deeply. And we loved him deeply. He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us.”

Alongside this Super Bowl ad featuring Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, the event will bring with it plenty more funny and exciting commercials and trailers for upcoming movies and TV shows. Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt stars as Mr. P in a new Pringles ad, while Wednesday star Jenna Ortega stars in a new ad for Doritos.

As for trailers, rumors abound that audiences will get both new and first looks at the likes of Wicked, the Knuckles television spinoff, Inside Out 2, A Quiet Place: Day One, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and Deadpool 3, which promises to unite Deadpool and Wolverine on an adventure across the multiverse.
