Actor Darren Kent, known for his role in such fantasy genre projects like Game of Thrones and more recently in the live-action adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, has sadly passed away at the age of 39 years old. The actor had a successful career mostly in television, which started back in 2004 with an uncredited role in hit series Shameless. In 2008, he got the chance to star in the horror movie Mirrors alongside Hollywood legend Kiefer Sutherland, and a few years later he joined ther cast of the reimagined Snow White starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, Snow White and the Huntsman. But it was in 2014 he finally got one of his most memorable part, participating in the fourth season fo Game of Thrones.

Although his role was small, presenting himself in front of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen to inform her that her dragons killed his daughter, it was a very important scene, since it made Khaleesi decide to chain her dragons, causing a great conflict in her.

The news of his passing was confirmed by the actor’s agent, Carey Dodd Associates, who published a caring message on social media remembering his client and showing their support for their friends and family. No cause of death has yet been given.

“It is with deep sadness we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday. His parents and best friend by his side. Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. Darren was not only a talented actor, director and writer, he was truly one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It has been a privilege and pleasure to have been a part of his journey. RIP my friend.”

In 2023, he was part of the highly acclaimed and well received live-action adaptation of the famous role play Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where he also played a small part joining an amazing cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Daisy Head, and Hugh Grant.

In 2011, way before joining these popular projects, Kent played the main role in the short film Sunny Boy, which centers on a young boy name Danny that has a rare skin condition that doesn’t allow him to get out in the sun, while all he wishes is to be a regular boy. This was definitely a life-changing moment for the actor’s career, especially because he felt highly related to the character due to his own skin condition, and suffering from osteoporosis and arthritis.

Beyond what he did as an actor, Kent was also a renowned writer and director. He worked behind the cameras in several short films and tv series such as Happy Hours and Room 301, and also wrote three scripts for Abusing Protocol, In Two Minds and Lockdown Lockdown: Global Glance, projects he also starred in. He had several short films coming up, most of them already completed or in post-production.
