Jon Hamm has been lending his voice to quite a few animated services, and now it’s his time to have his very own. Grimsburg follows the life of detective Marvin Flute (Hamm) returning to his hometown to solve the town’s and his family’s mysteries. Catlan McClelland created the show, and Matthew Schlissel will be sharing writing duties. Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment will provide the animation.
“I am very excited to be involved in the Fox animation universe,” Jon Hamm said. “A universe I have been actively watching since the early nineties. The opportunity to get to bring a project like Grimsburg to life that is so particular and unique, and to work with its incredibly imaginative and hilarious creators is one I can’t wait to get started with.”
“As we continue to expand our animation brand beyond family comedies, Grimsburg’s wildly funny, bizarre and inventive take on the crime genre makes it the perfect next generation Fox comedy,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment. “And with Jon Hamm front and center as Marvin Flute, the deeply troubled detective with very eclectic taste and opinions, we believe this may finally be Hamm’s breakout role as a leading man.”
“The mystery is solved, Grimsburg is a thoroughly original and comedic take on the small-town crime show trope with a mix of the insatiable Jon Hamm and head-spinning plot twists and turns,” said Gail Berman, executive producer. “Fox, Bento Box and Grimsburg’s genius creators, Catlan and Matthew are taking the animation genre to new heights under the wise leadership of our brilliant Showrunner Chadd Gindin in this eccentric comedy with a broad appeal. We are thrilled to be a part of this great team.”
Jon Hamm has been lending his voicing skills to quite a few animated endeavors, including Bless the Harts, about a group of Southerners striving to live the American dream, starring Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, Kumail Nanjiani, Fortune Feimster, Ike Barinholtz where he portrayed Mayor Webb. The multi-talented actor has not been typecast as he moves from genre to genre, and we can see him soon in the reboot of the Chevy Chase classic, titled Confess, Fletch. He’ll be pairing up with Mad Men co-star John Slattery. Kyle MacLachlan, Marcia Gay Harden, Lorenza Izzo, Roy Wood Jr. and Annie Mumolo havre also joined the cast. It also goes without saying that he’s joined Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller and Ed Harris in Top Gun: Maverick.
