Kevin Can F**k Himself Trailer and Release Date for Second and Final Season Released

AMC has set a premiere date for the second and final season of their dark comedy series Kevin Can F**k Himself. The network also released an official trailer for the upcoming season. The trailer provides a brief synopsis of season one, which ended with Neil’s discovery of Allison and Patty’s plan to kill Allison’s husband Kevin, and gives us a glimpse at season 2.

Kevin Can F**k Himself stars Annie Murphy as Allison, Mary Hollis Inboden as Patty, Eric Petersen as Kevin and Alex Bonifer as Neil. The series, set in Worcester, Massachusetts, follows the life of Allison McRoberts, an unhappily married woman desperate to rid herself of her husband. Kevin (the husband) is aloof and unaware and presented to viewers in a sitcom setting, complete with a laugh track. As viewers become familiar with Allison’s inner turmoil the show’s filming and mood changes, appearing as a dark television drama with no laugh track.

Desperation leads Allison to plot Kevin’s murder, and she takes Patty along for the ride. With her season one plans not being successful, she must find an alternative way to rid herself of Kevin. An AMC statement says this of the upcoming season:

“Now in the second and final season, Allison and Patty scramble to deal with Neil, pushing Allison to find a better way out. Altering the original escape plan, Patty once again agrees to help Allison, but this time, on her own terms.”

Season two will kick off with the two women handling the situation with Neil, Kevin’s best friend, who has uncovered the two women’s plan to end Kevin’s life. It seems that Kevin will likely make it through this second and final season, as this time around, Allison intends to fake her own death.

Kevin Can F**K Himself is created and executive produced by Valerie Armstrong. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack executive produce through Le Train Train, alongside Sean Clements and Colin Walsh. Craig DiGregorio serves as showrunner and executive producer. The series also stars Brian Howe as Kevin’s father Pete, Raymond Lee as Allison’s ex-boyfriend Sam Park, Jamie Denbo as Allison’s aunt and former boss Diane, and Candice Coke as Patty’s girlfriend, Detective Tammy Ridgeway. Erinn Hayes will appear in the upcoming season.

The second season of Kevin Can F**k Himself will debut August 22. The first two episodes will be available on AMC+ and AMC+ subscribers will have early access to an additional episode every week.

Annie Murphy’s Career

Annie Murphy is best known for her role as Alexis Rose on the hit CBC sitcom Schitt’s Creek. Murphy won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award, and received nominations for four Canadian Screen Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and one Golden Globe Award for her work on the critically acclaimed sitcom.

Before Schitt’s Creek, Murphy appeared on Canadian films and television. Murphy has said that prior to landing Schitt’s Creek she was contemplating pulling the plug on her acting career. Murphy auditioned for Eugene Levy and his father Dan Levy, but Eugene was unsure of casting Murphy as Alexis as he had imagined Alexis as a blonde. As Dan Levy was impressed by her, she was invited to audition for the role of motel clerk Stevie Budd while Alexis was offered to actress Abby Elliott. When Elliott was unable to continue, Dan Levy convinced his father that Murphy should just dye her hair. During the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, the series’ final season swept all seven major comedy awards: a first for a comedy or drama series.

In 2022, Murphy appeared as a young Ruth on Netflix’s Russian Doll and on one episode of Murderville as herself.
