Picard Season 2 Trailer Reveals First Look at Whoopi Goldberg’s Return as Guinan

Jean-Luc is joined by some familiar faces in an all-new trailer for season 2 of Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+. Set to return with new episodes on March 3, Picard brings back Patrick Stewart for ten more episodes as the titular Star Trek fan favorite. Paramount+ has also released a new image of Whoopi Goldberg’s return as Guinan in season 2, and footage of Goldberg back in the role is also seen in the trailer. You can watch the new trailer below.

“I did watch the first season of Picard, which was great,” Goldberg said last year before her return as Guinan was officially announced. “From time to time, I talk to Patrick about Star Trek. Hopefully, I will be joining their cast for a little while next year. I’m very excited about that.”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

John de Lancie Also Returns as Q

Paramount+

We get to see some new footage of John de Lancie’s return as Q, though a previous trailer gave us our first peek at this character’s comeback. Per TrekMovie.com, the actor explained how Q has matured since the last time we saw him, teasing what was to come of Picard’s reunion with Q in season 2 of the new show.

“It isn’t, in fact, a Q of 34 years years ago. It would be unseemly to be playing it that way,” he said. “He’s older, more mature, a little more focused individual, with a very strong internal motivation and a desire to get Picard to do something. But if I tried to do it the way I acted back then, I think it wouldn’t be good. It is different, and it’s intended to be a little different.”

Further teasing something new from Q, John de Lancie added: “I am very concerned about recreating, that has a lot of potential disasters attached to it. So I said, ‘We are not trying to recreate something? We are going to move from here, forward?’ And they said, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’”

Star Trek: Picard will start streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on March 3, 2022. You can find the first season streaming now on the service.
