Wedding bells are ringing!
This past Fourth of July weekend brought more than just fireworks and hot dogs; it also brought in headline after headline about one of the most talked-about weddings of the century.
After months of rumors, questions, and the signing of over 1,000 ironclad NDAs, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially tied the knot — and did so in what many seem to agree was the most surprising way possible.

The public may be left to speculate about the details of the top-secret, star-studded Madison Square Garden wedding.
But all this wedding buzz has me returning to my favorite TV weddings — which brought their own heaping doses of love, glamor, and spectacle.
Whether it’s born out of a seasons-long wait for a favorite couple to finally seal the deal, or it serves as the backdrop to stir things up for its characters, there’s nothing like a wedding episode to serve up some inspo-worthy vows, seriously fashionable looks, and a generous helping of drama.
Here is our roundup of TV’s most unforgettable ‘I do’s’.
“The One with Ross’s Wedding” (Friends)
(NBC/Screenshot)
It may be the groom’s worst nightmare to say the wrong name at the altar, but can you imagine any other fate befalling Ross Geller?
Friends Season 4 Episodes 23 and 24 are gasp-inducing in more ways than one.
Joey loses the rings, plenty of hilarious family drama ensues, and of course, you get one of the most infamous reveals of the series: Monica and Chandler have impulsively slept together.
One of my favorite moments is seeing Rachel’s growth: as she flies to London to crash the wedding and confess her love for Ross, she ultimately decides to hold her tongue and prioritize his happiness over her own.
Of course, it’s both shocking (and admittedly, a little satisfying) when his subconscious explodes the wedding for her.
While things certainly don’t work out for Ross and Emily, the episode is certainly not devoid of romance. The relationship between Monica and Chandler officially kicks off, which undoubtedly becomes the show’s true romantic beating heart.
“Niagara” (The Office)
(NBC/Screenshot)
What’s better than one wedding ceremony? Definitely two. After six seasons of rooting for and loving every second of Jim and Pam’s relationship, they finally tie the knot in The Office Season 6 Episode 4.
Jim and Pam get their moment away from the antics of their colleagues, marrying in an impromptu secret ceremony on The Maid of the Mist.
Of course, they join the rest of the office for a more public ceremony, and the iconic dance down the aisle to “Forever” — this scene will forever be the first thing I think of whenever I hear this song.
It also certainly wouldn’t be The Office without a healthy dose of comedy and chaos.
Michael hooks up with Pam’s mom, Pam rips her veil, Kevin comes to the rescue, and Jim accidentally reveals her pregnancy in an incredibly awkward moment, which incites quite a bit of family drama.
This episode is The Office at its best: a perfect balance between screwball comedy and incredibly heartfelt moments, befitting the love and commitment of its leading couple.
“I Can’t Get Started” (Gilmore Girls)
(The WB/Screenshot)
Adorably nervous Sookie gets her beautiful white wedding at the Independence Inn in Gilmore Girls Season 2 Episode 22, but not without stirring up lots of drama for our Gilmore girls themselves.
Lorelai rekindles her romance with Christopher, just to find out his ex-partner Sherry is pregnant. It’s heartbreaking to see how devastated Lorelai is at this news, and how desperately she tries to keep it together.
Rory also impulsively kisses Jess after finding out he’s returned to town, even though she’s still with Dean.
While I’ll out myself here as a Jess fan, this scene undoubtedly marks the beginning of Rory’s long trajectory of infidelity.
The episode balances the excitement for Sookie with the dramatic tension of Lorelai and Rory holding on to their own secrets.
It’s not exactly a happy day for all involved, but the wedding serves as a beautiful backdrop that contrasts excellently with the melancholy of Lorelai and Rory’s emotional state.
“Happy Ending” (Schitt’s Creek)
(Pop TV/Screenshot)
After a storm derails the original plan for David and Patrick’s ceremony, the entire town bands together to save the day for the couple.
Schitt’s Creek Season 6 Episode 14, the series finale, delivers the perfect mix between heartfelt emotion, catharsis, eccentric comedy, and some incredible looks.
Nothing will be more iconic than seeing Moira marry Patrick and David while dressed in her custom Alexander McQueen gown and towering papal habit.
Schitt’s Creek is certainly known for delivering some of the most memorable outfits, but this one absolutely takes the (wedding) cake.
One of TV’s greatest couples gets to share unique and fitting vows: Patrick sings Mariah Carey to David, while David tells Patrick he’s his happy ending.
It’s a nod to his previously ill-begotten spicy massage and to the fact that this episode is certainly a happy ending befitting these beloved characters.
If you’re prepping for a rewatch, don’t forget to grab your tissues! You’ll be laughing through all of the tears.
“New York I Love You XOXO” (Gossip Girl)
(The CW/Screenshot)
After six full seasons of back-and-forth (and then back-and-forth some more), it felt like sweet relief to finally see Blair and Chuck say ‘I do’ in Gossip Girl Season 6 Episode 10.
And yes, while their ceremony was perhaps the fastest known to TV as they rushed to marry before the cops arrived to question them about Bart’s death, it served up — in traditional Gossip Girl style — one of the best looks of the show.
I still dream about Blair’s stunning custom Elie Saab gown.
Three words, eight letters. Can you think of a better way for Chuck to deliver his vows?
I have to give an honorable mention to “G.G.,” Gossip Girl Season 5 Episode 13: also known as the 100th episode of Gossip Girl. As far as wedding episodes go, this one also packs a punch.
Blair marries Prince Louis in a stunning ceremony, just to discover he’s attempted to trap her in the marriage.
Georgina is in fine form, stirring the pot as usual; romantic declarations fly between Blair and Chuck; and Blair and Dan’s relationship also kicks off. All in all, it’s gorgeous, and very, very messy.
“Landing Gear” (New Girl)
(FOX/Screenshot)
Schmidt, in incredibly Schmidt-like fashion, has been obsessing about every detail of his upcoming nuptials. But one detail is missing: Cece’s estranged mom.
Schmidt will do just about anything for Cece, and he puts his love and loyalty to her on full display in New Girl Season 5 Episode 21 as he flies to Portland to try to convince her mother to attend their wedding.
But as a series of delays leaves him stranded on the tarmac, he misses his own ceremony.
His friends FaceTime him in so he can still be a part of all the festivities on the plane, and Schmidt celebrates by getting the plane to join a conga line.
I have to grab my tissues at the end of the episode, though. After returning home exhausted, Schmidt discovers his friends have set up a ceremony in their living room, and Cece’s mother is there to bear witness.
Cece looks stunning, and the two of them don’t have to wait a moment longer to finally be married.
It’s a beautiful, intimate way to celebrate the iconic opposites-attract couple, and everything that caused their casual relationship to develop into one of unwavering loyalty and devotion.
And in the best sequence of all, Schmidt smashes his doughbag jar under the chuppah, a full circle moment that cements just how much he’s grown with Cece by his side.
“The Show Must Go On” (One Tree Hill)
(The CW/Screenshot)
One Tree Hill Season 3 Episode 22 is technically a vow renewal, but we finally get to see Nathan and Haley commit to one another in front of all their friends and family.
After a season of reconciliation for these teens, they get the wedding they deserve — but not without a LOT of drama from their friends.
Brooke and Peyton’s relationship implodes (again) when Lucas reveals he kissed Peyton earlier in the season. It’s another brutal betrayal for Brooke after all she went through with those two.
But that’s an essay for another time.
One Tree Hill is no stranger to cliffhangers, but this wedding ends on quite the suspenseful note. An unmarked pregnancy test is left in one of the bridesmaid bags, revealing that someone is pregnant (is it Brooke, Haley, or Karen?)
(The CW/Screenshot)
And while leaving the wedding, Rachel and Cooper’s limo goes over a bridge, and the episode ends with Nathan jumping in after them while Haley screams his name.
It’s not the way you want to end your wedding day, though, as One Tree Hill Season 5 reveals, all ends well (and Haley is revealed to be the one pregnant)!
Honorable Mention: “The Red Wedding”
I’ll also admit here that when it comes to iconic wedding episodes, Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9‘s “The Rains of Castamere” (AKA “The Red Wedding”) is as infamous as it gets.
But to preserve my own sanity, I have never been able to rewatch that episode.
But credit where credit is due!
