Walker Loses One of Its Leads as Lindsey Morgan Abruptly Exits

If one thing is true when it comes to TV shows, it is that nothing stays the same. Casts change constantly with cast members coming and going for whatever reason. Now, the news has come that the cast of a sophomore CW series will be changing this season. According to Deadline, Walker will be down a member of the Rangers later this season. The new season started this past Thursday on the CW.

Lindsey Morgan will exit the series later this season. The actress released a statement where she stated that her leaving was due to personal reasons and that she had the full support of the CW and parent company CBS Studios.

Morgan said in her statement, “After much thoughtful consideration and introspection, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step away from my role as Micki Ramirez on Walker for personal reasons, and I am eternally grateful to have the support of the producers, CBS Studios and The CW in allowing me to do so. The opportunity to play Micki has truly been a blessing as has working alongside the incredible cast and crew of this terrific series. Please know that I will continue to root for my TV family and wish them all the best.”

CBS also released a statement about the actress’s leaving: “We respect and support Lindsey Morgan’s decision to step away from her role as a series regular on Walker and wish her only the best. She is a tremendously talented actress who will certainly be missed, and we will, of course, leave the door open for Micki to return.”

Details as to how Lindsey Morgan will exit the series, including the actress’s final regular episode, have not been released, but as noted in the studio’s statement, her exit is being handled in such a way that the actress and character could return in a guest spot later on should she choose.

Morgan has had a long history with the CW, having starred in The CW’s The 100 before joining Walker. From the sound of the statements, that relationship is still solid, and while the exact reasons for the actress leaving Walker are still unknown, it sounds as if, whatever the reason, the studio is fully supporting the actress and wants their relationship to continue.

Morgan’s coworkers on Walker had nothing but complimentary things to say about the actress. Both showrunner Anna Fricke and Jared Padalecki, who stars as Cordell Walker as well as serving as an executive producer, released statements about Morgan’s leaving the show.

Fricke said, “It’s been a true pleasure to work with Lindsey. I admire her as a person and as a professional. She will of course be missed, but we truly support her and celebrate the impact she has made on this show.”

Padalecki added, “Lindsey is a wonderful person, inside and out. I am proud of, and grateful for, her work on Walker. Moreover, I’m honored to consider her a friend.”

Deadline first broke the story of the actress leaving the show. You can check out Walker on The CW.
