The Equalizer Reveals Storyline Explanation for Chris Noth’s Exit

This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for The Equalizer’s newest episode, “Pulse,” which aired on April 10.The Equalizer has officially written out Chris Noth following the actor’s firing from the CBS series last year. Before the scandal that cost him his job, Noth had starred on the series as William Bishop, serving as one of the main stars alongside Queen Latifah. The last episode he had physically appeared in aired on Jan. 2, as it was filmed prior to the actor’s firing in December.

Six episodes have since aired, and now viewers have been given their in-universe explanation for what happened to Bishop. On Sunday night’s episode, dubbed “Pulse,” Robyn McCall (Latifah) discovers that Bishop has been working on a CIA investigation into a flight that mysteriously went down. She realizes that it must be the work of her nemesis, Mason Quinn (Chris Vance), uncovering his plans to take out planes with the help of a scientist and electromagnetic pulses.

While in pursuit of Quinn, McCall is horrified to learn that the villain has targeted another plane with Bishop on board. She fails in her efforts to get a warning out to Bishop and the others on the plane and is forced to watch the aircraft go down after it’s hit with an EMP. McCall starts plotting her revenge against Quinn for killing her mentor, and to make things even more personal, the antagonist poured salt on the wound by giving her a call from Bishop’s phone.

“This is the second time you’ve gotten in my way. Don’t come after me because then I’ll have to come after you,” Quinn said.

In December, Noth was accused of assault by two women who made their allegations public in an article printed by THR. According to the outlet, the two alleged victims did not know one another, with one incident said to have occurred in 2004 with the other in 2015. Actress Zoe-Lister Janes also accused Noth of acting inappropriately on set while singer Lisa Gentile also came forward with an allegation of Noth assaulting her in 2002.

Noth has denied all of the allegations against him and, as of now, has not been criminally charged. You can read his official statement below.

“The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

Chris Noth’s Mr. Big Also Died on And Just Like That, But Not Because of the Allegations

HBO Max

William Bishop’s death comes after Chris Noth already had another major character of his killed off. Mr. Big, who Noth previously played in Sex and the City and its movie adaptations, was killed off early into the HBO Max series And Just Like That. That was a decision made before Noth’s firing and had nothing to do with the allegations, though a planned appearance for the first season finale of Noth was scrapped.

Though And Just Like That was renewed for a second season on HBO Max, chances are we won’t be seeing any more of Mr. Big.
