Report: Colts’ Taylor is healthy, would likely pass physical

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is healthy and would likely pass a physical today, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Taylor was placed on the PUP list in late August, meaning he must miss the season’s first four games. All options are still on the table, and the Colts still could look to move the 2021 rushing champ, Rapoport added.

When the team tried to trade him in August, the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers were the two main suitors for Taylor. The Packers offered two mid-round picks, but now that the season has started, those talks are over, per Rapoport. Indianapolis asked for second-year wide receiver Christian Watson in the trade, but the Packers declined, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Miami and Indianapolis had extensive talks, but no deal grew imminent, Rapoport added. The Dolphins are reportedly expected to remain interested.

“I can say there was no exchange of offers from either one of us, it was just general talks,” Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told reporters in August, according to Kevin Patra of NFL Network. “In terms of being close or anything, there was nothing really close.”

Tensions grew between Taylor and Indianapolis this summer when the team refused to offer him a contract extension. There is a slim chance Taylor could resume playing for the Colts when his four games are up. However, that would likely require a contract extension, according to Rapoport.

The 24-year-old is on the final year of his rookie contract. He has 3,841 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns in 43 career games.
