Apple TV’s Lucky Teaser, Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Is a Full-Blown Panic Attack — And It Begins This July

Apple dropped the first teaser for Lucky, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, and it’s intense

There are some teasers that gently explain what kind of show you’re about to watch, and then there are teasers like the one for Lucky.

It mostly exists to grab you by the collar, drag you through a series of fires, gunshots, and bad decisions, and then shrug as if to say, “You’ll figure it out eventually.”

That’s very much the energy here, and it feels intentional.

This looks like the kind of show that doesn’t want to be neatly summarized as much as experienced, preferably while you’re slightly stressed and asking yourself how things escalated this fast.

So, just another day in 2026!

Based on the teaser alone, what we can safely say is that Lucky stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Lucky, a con artist whose life implodes after a multi-million-dollar heist goes sideways, which sends her running for her life with both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss hot on her heels.

That’s the clean version of the plot, anyway.

The teaser itself is pure motion: Lucky waking up in a panic, running, fighting, setting things on fire, rattlesnakes, and gun cocks punctuating the chaos.

The running commentary that makes it clear this whole mess didn’t happen overnight so much as snowballed from what Lucky dryly calls “a series of bad decisions over an extended period of time.”

That feels relatable in a way that’s probably a little concerning.

The cast surrounding Taylor-Joy is stacked in that very specific “oh, this could get intense fast” way, with Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner all along for the ride.

This isn’t going to be a one-woman sprint so much as a collision of very strong personalities circling the same increasingly bad situation.

When you combine that lineup with the teaser’s nonstop pace, it starts to feel like everyone is chasing something different, even if they’re technically chasing Lucky.

Behind the scenes, Lucky comes from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, with Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas co-showrunning, which is interesting because it signals character-first storytelling even inside something that looks this frantic.

Tropper’s past work tends to focus on people who are deeply flawed, emotionally cornered, and making choices that feel inevitable in the moment.

That lines up nicely with a story about a woman whose entire life is suddenly defined by how fast she can stay ahead of her past.

The series is based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley and runs seven episodes.

Lucky premieres globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with the first two episodes, and rolls out weekly through August 19.

If the teaser is any indication, this isn’t a show that’s going to hold your hand or slow down to explain itself too carefully.

Whether that’s exhilarating or disorienting will probably depend on how much you enjoy being dropped into the middle of chaos and told to keep up. Personally, I love it.

Either way, it very much looks like a wild ride — and possibly the kind where you’re still piecing things together even after the credits roll.
